Anglesey Walking Festival 2011

Dates for the 12th annual Anglesey Walking Festival are yet to be confirmed, though it is most likely to be held from 28th May to 12th June 2011. Participants can take part in a variety of walks aimed at differing abilities from pre-schoolers to the more advanced rambler. You can walk and hear about the history of coastal and rural villages including tales of shipwrecks, cannibalism, smugglers and ghosts. Marvel at the island's industrial heritage on the Parys Copper Mountain and Amlwch Port walk. Whilst further inland, see the old coal mines at Pentre Berw, and the Victorian Walled Garden at Brynddu on the Llanfechell Heritage Walk.

Most walks are on the Coastal Footpath and feature stunning scenery, flora and fauna with varied geological rock faces - home to a large variety of nesting bird colonies, especially on Holy Island which is ideal for birdwatchers. There will also be four walks suitable for wheelchair users. All the walks are guided by professional, knowledgeable guides who will help you get the most from your experience.
