Accommodation Details
Argoed Hall is an elegant Grade II listed mansion overlooking the River Dee that has been painstakingly restored to provide four luxurious holiday homes. Set in wonderful grounds, designated as Historical Gardens and with far reaching views down the Dee Valley towards Dinas Bras Castle, No. 2 Argoed Hall is a wonderful venue for family get togethers, special celebrations and holidays. The Hall is in the village of Froncysyllte, well known for its International Male Voice Choir and Brunel's famous aqueduct. Llangollen just down the road is home to the International Eisteddfod, good restaurants and shops. Chester, Liverpool, Manchester and Shrewsbury are all within easy reach.
All the character and detail of this mansion has been carefully retained by the owner, combined with modern day luxury to provide a sublime home. Granite work tops in the stunning kitchen, Egyptian cotton bed linen, fabulous comfy beds, carefully chosen furniture and soft furnishings all combine to create a unique house for you to experience.
Sweep up the drive to Argoed Hall where you will be met and shown your property. Walk up the wide stone steps to enter No. 2, arranged over four floors. Enjoy wonderful views from the large open plan kitchen dining area, where the owners have thought of everything. Granite worktops, Rangemaster cooker, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine as well as every gadget you or your cook might require to prepare fabulous meals. There are even two sets of china and cutlery! Large dining table and chairs. The original tiled floor is just wonderful, and there is a quirky little cupboard for hanging coats. Separate loo and wash hand basin.
On the lower ground floor is a bedroom suite comprising of en-suite shower room, dressing room (with lovely original vaulted ceiling) and double bedroom. Perfect for friends joining a family group, or a member of the party in need of their own space! Bathrobes and slippers provided, as they are in all rooms. Also on this floor is a large utility room with washing machine and plenty of space for drying clothes.
Use the original servants' staircase from the rear of the kitchen to reach the first floor. The large landing area has comfortable seating and a range of books and games - perfect for a quiet evening or curling up with a good book. The lounge has wonderful views, comfy leather sofas, oak furniture and TV with Freeview, DVD player, i-pod docking station with CD and radio. One window still has the original stained glass.
Continue up to the second floor to find the final four bedrooms, all doubles. One is en-suite with shower, loo and wash hand basin - this room also has a lovely bay window with window seat - a great place for morning coffee and the papers. Family bathroom with roll top bath with hand held shower, loo, wash hand basin, heated towel rail.
Guests are free to explore the communal grounds, set over three acres. These historic gardens include many mature trees, including magnolias and Japanese maples, and fragrant roses. Enjoy a glass of wine in the evening whilst taking in the beautiful views from the ballustraded terrace. In coming months the owners hope to restore the original grass tennis court and Victorian summer house to their former glory too!
A fabulous place to stay for a special celebration or if you are entertaining. Combine your stay with a day at Bangor on Dee or Chester races or of course the world renowned International Eisteddfod.
