Accommodation Details

This prettty Grade 2 listed building sits in a quiet backwater of Porthmadog. Oakley was formerly the Slate Wharf Manager's house for the working mine at Ffestiniog. Now it has been carefully converted, retaining its fine exterior, into a relaxing, contemporary, spacious holiday cottage all on one level, great for wobbly knees and hips. If you are keen to reduce your carbon footprint you can arrive by train or bicycle and have masses to do from here without needing a car.

Porthmadog is home to the Ffestiniog Railways - hop on a train and visit the slate mines at Llechwedd, travelling through some stunning scenery or take a Sherpa bus to the foot on Snowdon going through the pretty village of Beddgelert, visit Kerfoots of Porthmadog, a unique department store where you will receive an old fashioned welcome and feel as though you have stepped back in time; be amazed by its self supporting spiral staircase - the only staircase of its kind in the U.K! Good cafes and restaurants, all within walking distance - try Hen Fecws! Wonderful beaches at Black Rock Sands and pretty coves and bays around the harbour at Borth Y Gest.

Bright, contemporary, spacious and relaxing are words that all come to mind describing this apartment. Open plan kitchen and dining room, the kitchen is a treat - very well equipped with stainless steel electric oven and gas hob, integrated fridge with ice box, washer / dryer, microwave - the pale oak dining table and chairs sit by the French windows which open onto the neat internal courtyard with garden furniture on gravelled seating area. From here there is direct access to the harbour.

Bright sitting room with pretty soft furnishings and wooden floors, squishy sofas, electric flame fire effect stove, TV & DVD, Hi-Fi, I-Pod dock and a chest filled with games. The bathroom is bright and contemporary with loo, wash hand basin, bath with shower over and a fittingly slate floor. Two bedrooms, one double bedroom with iron bedstead and one twin room - both rooms have pretty fresh bed linen.

This apartment is a delight in the most unlikely central location. Parking for two cars. A fabulous place to stay!

Delightful accomodation, bright, modern, spotlessly clean, with all mod cons... Location couldn't be better, harbour, shops & bus stop 2 minute walk..Owner left details of best places to visit, walks pubs restaurants ect....Would definitely recommend, cant wait to go back ..Cathy & Ste..
