The town has a an eclectic mix of shops, galleries, restaurants, pubs and some of North Wales' best attractions. It is home to the Welsh Highland and Ffestiniog Railways and Portmeirion is just across the famous Cob, built by W.A. Maddock (hence the name of this once busy seafaring town: Port Madoc).
