Standing in the most fantastic location with stunning ocean views down the coastline of Wales and Cardigan Bay taking in the mountains and sea and across to Criccieth Castle and the pretty town and beach!
Criccieth is a delightful busy village with wonderful beaches, safe swimming, great walks and masses to do. A great place to visit all year round! A ten minute stroll takes you into this pretty seaside village, where you'll find restaurants, pubs and cafe serving good food using fresh local produce, interesting individual shops, a great delicatessen and an old fashioned vegetable shop where you can still pick your vegetables from the display on the street and Idris Cafe is the best bread shop for miles with wonderful chocolate eclairs!
A short drive to Porthmadog, The Italianate Village at Portmerion, The Welsh Highland Railway and Snowdon. Travel in the opposite direction, you will arrive at Pwllheli, a busy marina town and terminus for the main line rail link to Shrewsbury which also has a station in Criccieth - a great way for extra guests to arrive. Further along this beautiful coastline is Llanbedrog and the ever popular Abersoch.
A traditional, comfortable home with the most breathtaking views, your holiday is very important to the owners who will strive to make little improvements each year.
A splendid Welsh Dresser, handed down from generation to generation of this local family takes its place well in the spacious sitting room with open fireplace, comfy sofas and chairs and wonderful sea views, TV, DVD and CD player. The family dining room is perfect for relaxing meals with friends and family. The well equipped kitchen has a dual fuel cooker and hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and a 3 drawer freezer and a wonderful proper pantry. Downstairs loo and wash basin, the utility room has washing machine and plenty of space for walking gear, buckets and spades and beach toys!
For those with wobbly knees or hips there is a stairlift (if required, please request key at time of booking) and bathroom ideally suited for the less able! Four bedrooms, one with a double bed and magnificent views straight out to sea and along the coast towards Harlech. The second bedroom, looking out to sea, can be made up as a king size or twin as it has zip and link beds, twin bedroom, plus a small single bedroom which is ideal for an extra guest or nursery. Bathroom with wash hand basin, loo and walk in shower, adapted for the less able.
Outside there is a steep lawned private garden in front of the house with pretty flowering shrubs, lovely in the spring time. The patio to the side of the house is an absolute sun trap, just relax with a good book and soak up the sunshine and wonderful sea air.

A winter break that helped re-charge the batteries. Haul a Gwynt is a wonderfully relaxing place to be. The coal fire in a very comfortably furnished living room provided the perfect environment for a group of friends to spend time together and to catch up. The views from nearly every window are the best that you can have if you love sea and mountains - the ever changing light from the winter sun meant that the view was forever changing. You could not want for more. Nerys and Gwil John
'Its the first holiday cottage that I ever stayed in where everything you could want has been provided' Mrs Lacy
Having just stayed at Haul a Gwynt, please could you pass on to the owner what a super house that is - really lovely and very 'homely', which is often lacking in holiday houses. It was so well equipped and probably the best we've been to and we look forward to retruning (it was already booked for October!). Dr and Mrs Telfer
We used Haul a Gwynt for a reunion of old university friends; it was ideal! The four bedrooms, large lounge and dining room was big enough for our group of 6, with fantastic sea views from most rooms. Criccieth is a lovely place, with good walking along the coast and plenty of pubs and restaurants to fuel nostalgic chat. Dave Wallace
We had a wonderful holiday at Haul A Gwynt. It is a most warm and welcoming house with fantastic views of the sea, the castle and Cardigan Bay. My husband has limited mobility and the facilities offered at the house were ideal. We enjoyed some super meals at the local restaurants and found Criccieth simply charming. We hope to return some time soon. The Garner Family
We had an extremely enjoyable stay at Haul a Gwynt in late June of 2009. The house is very spacious, comfortable and well-equipped, and with its private and elevated position overlooking Cardigan Bay and Cricieth castle, is ideally placed for a thoroughly relaxing holiday. Our son's friend - who caught the train from London to spend the week-end with us - said that the trip along the Cambrian Riviera all the way to Cricieth was among the most spectacular train journeys he has ever experienced. We found the owners absolutely charming and helpful to a fault, and we have already booked to stay here again next summer. Highly recommended for a pleasant and relaxing holiday. Great place, great people, great country! Emlyn and Sally Williams
We stayed at Haul A Gwynt from the 5th - 8th June this year. There was myself and my partner, my son and his partner, my mother and our two labradors. We had a lovely weekend, we had everything we needed at the house and it is so clean and very spacious. We didn't feel we were on top of each other at all and the patio by the side of the house is a little sun trap. The fact that we could take our dogs too is great and they enjoyed their walks down to the beach and the utility room is an ideal place for them to sleep. I cannot recommend this house enough and we will definitely be back, it's a superb location with Snowdonia National Park not far away. Janette Kearsey
