Accommodation Details

One of a row of converted barns, Nyth Y Coed translates to nest in the wood and it certainly lives up to its name! As soon as you turn off the main road onto the drive way you know you've found somewhere special! It is set in a peaceful, beautiful rural location with magnificent mountain views. Newborough Forest, one of the most important red squirrel conservation sites in the U.K, along with Newborough Beach, a Blue Flag beach and a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is less than a 10 minute drive away. Within walking distance is the Marram Grass Café, a family run business with a passion for great quality, locally sourced homemade food, well worth a visit!

The house is minimalist yet cosy, thoughtfully put together with a wide range of children's toys and books, books on the local area and walking guides. To keep everyone entertained, there is a great selection of DVDs and board games as well as Table Football. A Nintendo Wii with a selection of games and four controls is available for hire.

Everything in the large open plan living area is brand spanking new and gleaming. The kitchen has lovely stone floors and a breakfast bar where you can sit on the bar stool and enjoy reading the papers or choosing where to visit. The kitchen is very well equipped with electric cooker and hob, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer and microwave. The dining table and chairs make a great centre piece to this fabulous bright room. The sitting room has squishy leather sofas, gas flame fire, flat screen TV with DVD and freeview and patio doors opening on to the garden. The garden is safe and enclosed and you can enjoy watching the resident woodpecker feeding on the huge ash tree.

Upstairs there is a second sitting room with beautiful open rural views. A great place to sit quietly with a book or for the children to play with the toys from the toy box. Also situated on this floor is the master bedroom, which has a lovely sunny aspect and some mountain views. I love the Trefriw Woollen Mill throws at the bottom of the kingsize bed! Next to the master bedroom is a spacious bathroom with a shower over the bath, wash hand basin, loo and heated towel rail.

Upstairs again to two spacious bedrooms and another spacious bathroom. The bedrooms each have two single beds and plenty of storage. The bedrooms have been thoughtfully put together with one of the rooms having traditional welsh cosy throws, and the other room cheerfully themed around the seaside.

Nyth y Coed is a very welcoming holiday cottage, offering you a home from home experience, ideally suited to families and couples alike.

We are recently returned from this property. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the house. While the website description is wholly accurate we were still surprised and impressed by the standard of the accommodation. I understand the owners stay here regularly and it really shows in the attention to detail. Only negative is the playroom and stairs combination if you have young children. A problem we solved with some strategically placed suitcases.We would love to return if holidaying in Anglesey again. The Murtagh Family

We have just had a fantastic little holiday in Nyth Y Coed. We were attracted by the play room (I went with my sister and our little ones -1, 18 months and 4 years old) and the kids were delighted with the selection of toys - there are loads and for all ages so you really don't need to bring any of your own. The cottage is really light, modern and very well equipped. It was impeccably clean - including the high chair - a very welcome surprise. The bedrooms are really comfortable - but very light - lovely apart from when you're trying to get the kids to bed! I think the only downside would be that our kids were a bit too small to use the play area - there is an open stair way that we weren't able to block even with a safety gate, but the bottom floor is a kitchen and living room in one and so we transfered the toys downstairs and kept an eye on the kids while we got on with the cooking. Top tip for anyone going there with kids - if you plan to do a lot of cooking get your shopping delivered by Tesco in Bangor - we shopped online before we went and had the shopping delivered on the first evening. We have just spent a delightful week at Nyth Y Coed and enjoyed every minute. It is furnished and equipped to a very high standard.

We have just returned home to Scotland having been the first to stay in this house since it was kitted out, we all absolutely loved the location, the space within the house, all the furnishings, games, kids toys and facilities - even just sitting on the bean bags in the play room watching the birds feeding outside - so much so that we are hoping to come back again next year! I have only yesterday returned home from staying in this holiday home for a week (27/03/10 - 03/04/10) with my family.

I have only praise for this wonderful house. From the moment we arrived we knew we had found somewhere special and a place we, hopefully, intend to return to year after year.
As the first guests to ever stay here we were slightly concerned about teething problems (and we had been forewarned about building work taking place around the cottage). Those worries had no foundation as every aspect of this house seems to have had a lot of attention paid to it. Contemporary design and comfortable furnishings made it easy for the whole family to slip into this home and relax. This spacious house allowed us to spend time together but left room for us to do our own thing. Whether it was sitting in the lounge in front of the gas fireplace, cooking in the wonderfully equipped kitchen, playing with my 1 year old daughter in that dream of a playroom (stacked full of toys and books for all ages (including some Terry Pratchet novels for the big kid - i.e. ME)) or sitting in a beanbag chair at the back window watching the sun go down over the field at the back.
Attention has also been paid to the cottage's locale with walking guides and local art books provided.
The beds were very comfortable and the rooms airy, spacious and well equipped. The 2 bathrooms were invaluable for the 5 of us and the power shower on the middle floor gets rave reviews.
I find it hard to find any criticism about this place, the main one being that, although the playroom is on the second floor, there are no stair gates. So a careful eye will have to be had on the more spirited children (like mine). Other than that there is nothing of any consequence wrong.
I could go on and on about this house but suffice to say, we intend to return as a family to this wonderful spot. If you are looking for somewhere to stay your search ends here, and I hope you love it as much as our family have. Matthew Smith
