Accommodation Details

We have waited with great anticipation for the Old Barns to be ready. What a transformation from a much loved family home into a delightful holiday cottage. It really is a serene location and backing on to a vast area of RSPB land, certainly one for the wildlife enthusiast. The feeling of space isn't exclusive to the gardens surrounding the cottage, inside you will marvel at the large vaulted ceiling in the sitting room and my favourite view in the house is from the gallery above! The kitchen is superb and has so much space that you will be able to cook a feast and there still be room for family and friends to sit around chatting.

Pentre Berw is very centrally located to Anglesey and, if you can bring yourself to leave the peaceful surroundings of the the Old Barns, then you are in a perfect location to explore all that our fair island has to offer. Just minutes from the house you could find yourself on the very special Newborough Beach, arguably the most picturesque location in all of North Wales. 

The house itself is based around a gravel courtyard. Big open windows gaze out over fine Anglesey countryside. Walk into the house and you will come to a kitchen which is perfect for entertaining. There is a large dining table in the center of this room. In the day it is bright and airy but in the evening close the thick, luxurious curtains and this room will transform into an intimate setting perfect for a dinner to remember. There is both an AGA and an electric cooker, as well as a large American fridge/freezer and the most important thing when you are on holiday.....a dishwasher! There is a utility room which houses a washing machine and plenty of space to keep your coats and boots.

The sitting room is next door and this is without doubt my favourite room in the house. On one wall there is a big open fire with comfy seating all around it. To me there is no better feeling than to sink into a chair with a glass of wine in front of a big crackling fire having spent the day exploring or bird watching. This room is big - there are three sitting areas, one by the fire, one in a much more intimate part with bookshelves and a TV and another sitting area in the gallery above. The gallery can also act as an occasional bedroom, please ask for details. The are french doors which open out onto a decking area and beyond that a large, very private garden.

The Old Barns has two bedrooms on the ground floor, perfect for those with aching limbs who would prefer not to use stairs! Both bedrooms - one master bedroom with ensuite bathroom and another double bedroom are located at opposite ends of the house and a twin room and a cloakroom can be found upstairs. There are two extra shower rooms downstairs with shower, loo and hand wash basin. So much care for detail and colours has gone into the Old Barns with each room having a specific colour scheme and carefully chosen items of furniture to match.

The grounds that surround the Old Barns are very generous. There is parking for plenty of cars and a large paddock with so much room you should take your frisbee! Picnics here are highly recommended.

This is a fantastic property! A real 'home from home'. We spent half term week there this year and could not believe what a superb property it is. Everything from the furnishings to the Aga were just 'spot-on'. We're booking again for next year! Andrew Wilson
