Accommodation Details

This picturesque stone cottage in the heart of Snowdonia has stunning views of lake and mountain. Facing down the valley it looks across lovely Lake Gwynant, fringed with trees, to the mountains which rise from its shores. It is a view which can be enjoyed from the fireside in the cottage or from the sunny terrace of the garden provided with barbecue and picnic table. There is private access to the lake's shore, ideal for family picnics or for the fisherman to try his luck, and children can play in surrounding fields away from the road.

The cottage has been renovated to add modern comforts to the charm and character of the old house. Lovely timbers have been used for floors and window seats throughout which add warmth to the original stone and flagged floors. The kitchen is well appointed with a Stanley range (like an Aga) which provides cooking, central heating and hot water. There is an electric hob, microwave and a fridge with ice box and a dining/breakfast area to one side. An adjacent utility room houses the washing machine, and there is a downstairs bathroom with an electric shower over the bath, basin and WC.

The beamed sitting room is a bright and welcoming room with polished wooden floors, bright rugs and a window seat in a deep bay to encourage you to sit and wonder at the views of the mountains and the lake. Upstairs are two bedrooms, the double room looks across the lake and valley and the twin room has mountain views. Here too there are lovely wooden floors and both rooms are prettily furnished.

Close to Llanberis, Capel Curig and Beddgelert, Pantlleni is perfectly placed for exploring Snowdonia by car or by the many footpaths to the peaks or along the valley of this scenic area. About half an hour's drive away are the sandy beaches of Anglesey and the Lleyn Peninsula and there is golf, riding and fishing close by. This is a cottage for a truly memorable holiday.

Visitor Comments

We spent Christmas 2011 in Pantlleni and it was a great place to be, the cottage had everything we needed and was warm and cosy even when it was freeezing outside. The views are amazing, a TV would be a waste with such views. There was lots of places to visit and places to eat nearby, we would certinly go back. No complaints at all. Linda Phillips

Pantlleni has the best views and surroundings your could ever wish for. It's so peaceful with a wealth of wildlife in the gardens and surrounding area. It was complete heaven not having a TV to distract us from the idyllic surroundings. Coming home, with tired spaniels after walking miles, to cook on the Aga cannot be beaten. We will be back again. Tracy and Stuart Ballard

When I heard pantlleni had no tv I brought my mini pool table and air hockey. We all brought gaitars and laptops to watch films . I was never bored in pantlleni for a week on holiday. It was fun and relaxing . I feel like pantlleni was my real home .It only rained at night when we were asleep. it had light showers in the daytime.
It was very good weather . and we are thinking about coming again in june 2012 . I am looking forward to coming back to pantllent next year.

We live on the south west coast of Wales, in a cottage overlooking Cardigan Bay, so it takes quite a bit to make us drive up here. We think Pantlleni is pure heaven and have been coming to stay for ten years or more. Obviously, if one can't live without television it would be advisable to bring a DVD player and hire some discs. If you do need shopping, the local village has very little on offer but a trip to Port Maddog uses very little fuel (and you can fill up there as well) All in all, a perfect break. Keith Dunn

We loved it. Peaceful, beautiful and the best Christmas ever. We even had snow on Christmas Eve. It continued to snow throughout the night and Christmas morning was a picture. Absolutely stunning!

Our only complaint during this magical holiday, was the lack of a freezer. This was a huge problem for us and we wasted a lot of money and food.

We are a vegetarian family and as it was Christmas, had prepared a number of frozen home-cooked meals to take us through the festive week. We knew the nearest shops would not be within walking distance and would also be shut over the Christmas/New Year period. As a treat, we also ordered a couple of delicious ready-made meals provided by the holiday company. As it was Christmas; the company delivered the lot, plus deserts, altogether and frozen, inside the small icebox inside the fridge.

On our arrival we were horrified to find we had nowhere to store our home-cooked frozen meals. No freezer, just the small icebox in the fridge, which was all but useless. Over the next 3 days, we ate what we could but as there was nowhere to store our food and treats, we ended up having to throw all our home-cooked meals away. To add to our problems; we also purchase frozen meat for our dog - all the dog food was wasted too.

We hadn't intended driving to town but at the earliest opportunity had to; in order to buy rubbishy tinned food for ourselves and the dog.

When living off the beaten track esp. during winter months; a freezer is a priority. Our home is off the beaten track with the nearest town 10 miles away. We couldn't survive without a freezer. To not provide a freezer at Pantlleni is madness.

We made the best of a bad situation and did our best to find pubs that were happy to provide vegetarian meals. Not easy at the best of times. We had already wasted so much food and money, and had to spend more cash dining out.

The lack of a decent sized freezer at Pantlleni is our only complaint. Pantlleni was perfect in every other respect. It is a shame, as we would love to return for another Christmas holiday, but as a self-catering holiday, is just that; a freezer is a must and apparently Pantlleni still doesn't have one.

We stayed here recently for two weeks during June. Being with teenagers and young children the cottage was very suitable. Luckily the weather was great and we went swimming and canoeing in the nearby lake less then a mile away from the house. It was very cosy and comfortable. The only down fall was that there was no television which to some people would be fine but not for us. The garden was lovely too. Very wild and mysterious. Swing round the back that took a while to find. And also a barbeque area. We walked up snowdon the highest mountain in wales. Took about 5 hours to climb but would recommend it. Over all we had a very enjoyable stay!=] Elizabeth Paton
