This pretty farmhouse dating back to the 16th Century has been restored and renovated with so much attention to detail keeping the original beams and some of the stone walls and look out for a tiny window in the sitting room which used to be the pantry where meat was hung from hooks in the ceiling now home to a flat screen TV!. Plas Cefn Mawr now has all the comforts of the 21st century and is a fabulous, beautifully presented, comfy, welcoming holiday house.
Situated midway between the mountains and the beaches and just a short drive or walk to Plas Newydd owned by the National Trust and home of the Marquis of Anglesey, the pretty little bay at Moel Y Don on the Menai Strait is just down the road here you can join the Anglesey Coastal Path also popular with fishermen and perfect place to launch a boat.
A glorious, bright, spacious kitchen and dining room, the original beamed ceiling combines well with the tiled floors and the shaker style kitchen, French doors open from the conservatory dining area on to a decked area. The well equipped kitchen has an electric oven and hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, steamer and all the cooking utensils that you could need.
Sofas and chairs surround the wood burning stove in the sitting room which will be lovely in the winter months there is a plentiful supply of wood, a flat screen wall mounted TV with free view.
The ground floor double bedroom has a fantastic en-suite wet room with loo and wash hand basin, the exposed stone walls and original oak lintel above the window makes this such a different and inspired wet room and great for anyone who has difficulty with stairs.
Upstairs to three bedrooms again much care has gone into the detail of finishing these rooms, exposed stone walls, original pitch pine floor boards. Two double bedrooms and a twin bedroom. A fabulous bathroom with a sensible sized double ended bath, loo, wash hand basin and separate shower.
Outside the garden has an area of pretty flowering shrubs, a decked area outside the dining room is great for alfresco meals, enjoy this rural sunny aspect which is bathed in sun all day, pleasant views across luscious pasture land to the hills of Snowdonia and you may see the odd shaggy Shetland pony grazing in the field next door!
Really enjoyed our stay during the New Year. A great family getting together. Beautiful farmhouse, very spacious and comfortable, old feathers yet mordern 5 star standard. Everybody loved the log fire. Lovely surroundings, plenty of things to do. Owners are very friendly too. Would definitely recommend to others. H Jones
