Accommodation

One of seven stone built cottages set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, surrounded by lovely countryside and views of the coastline in this quiet, south-western corner of Anglesey. Winners of the 'Best Self-Catering Establishment of the Year', sponsored by InOut Magazine at the 2011 Anglesey Tourism Awards.Glan Morfa has recently been awarded an area of significance by Dark Skies Discovery, identifying it as one of the best locations in the UK for stargazing and astronomy!

At Swallow Cottage you are surrounded by 37 acres of land, with two lakes, well marked walks and masses of wildlife. The long, golden sands of Llanddwyn Island and the towering pines of Newborough Forest are about 10 minutes away by car, or you can join the cycle route at the top of the drive.

The owners have gone to great lengths in presenting the cottages to the standard they themselves expect when they go on holiday (and I can tell you, they enjoy their holidays!) but without detriment to the environment that makes these cottages so stunning. The cottages' heating and lighting is supplied by solar and wind energy and a reed bed system takes away the waste water, so you can enjoy your holiday knowing you are doing your bit to reduce the carbon foot print.

Inside, the open plan living room has sitting, dining and kitchen areas, comfy sofas and chairs, a flat screen TV and a DVD player. There is a dining table and chairs to one side, and the well-equipped kitchen has an electric cooker and hob, microwave and fridge with freezer compartment. The cottage sleeps three people in a double and single bedroom. The shower room has a slate tiled floor, spacious modern shower, loo, wash hand basin, heated towel rail and shaver point.

If you are holidaying in a group, Swallow Cottage can be booked together with its neighbouring cottages and the communal reception area can double as the perfect function room for you all to get together (please be aware that Internet access is available at reception and not in the houses) . Please enquire for details.

Visitor Comments

Had a lovely week. Two boys enjoyed Llanddwyn Bay and exploring Llanddwyn Island looking for pirates and smuggler's caves! A trip to South Stack lighthouse was great. RSPB staff wonderfully helpful and guided walk saw us looking for wildlife, lizards and birds. Beaumaris is lovely. Red boat ice cream shop sells delicious home made ice cream. Children loved exploring the castle and pretending to be medieval knights. Bouncy Castle in the play park next door was a hit. Rhosneighr was lovely. Mojo's pancake restaurant was fab and great value for money.

Thank you to Chris and family for a great welcome. Will definitely recommend Glan Morfa to others and will look forward to brining my parents from New Zealand to stay here next year.

We had a really lovely week in Swallow Cottage and really appreciated all the assistance from Chris and family during our stay. Glan Morfa Lodge is a beautiful and peaceful escape from our normal busy lives and we will be leaving with big smiles on our faces.

Our daughter loved the animals and pleaded for Socks the cat to be let in at breakfast time every morning...she even got to grips with Glan the dog when she wasn't running away from him!

Places we loved: Penmon Priory and the toll up to the lighthouse. Newborough Beach, chips by the sea in Beaumaris and crabbing off the pier. Various castles and ruins and generally just following noses. The cottage was a home from home and we can#t wait to come back again soon. Many thanks to Chris and family.

A great stay in a lovely cosy cottage, with welcoming and knowledgeable hosts. The cottage is well located for exploring Anglesey and the wildlife area on site is an added bonus. We would recommend this property. Sue, Martin and Jess

This is the third time we have used Menai Holiday Cottages and we have never been dissappointed. We have just returned from a wonderful week at Swallow Cottage (with friends staying in Kestrel). The whole set up is really fantastic and Ron and his son (Steve I think it is) were so welcoming and helpful. The accomodation was spotless and the the views stunning. My six year old daugehter burst into tears when it was time to come home as she was so sad to leave the cottage!

Once again I have been delighted with our accomodation and look forward to using your cottages again. Thank you.

Kind regards and all best wishes

Karen Hart.

I would just like to say a massive thank you for such a wonderful and warm welcome that both me and Kirsty received when staying at Swallow Cottage last week. We thought that the cottage was absolutely stunning both inside and outside along with the surrounding area, we were very sad to go. We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay will definitely be coming back again. Mr D Parkes

You have done a great job here, the cottage is lovely and we have really enjoyed the walks and the wildlife. We have been really pleased to be your first ever guests and will be coming back again. Best Wishes The Bradshaws
