Taliesin really is a house with a view! Nestled into the hillside of Bont Ddu overlooking the Mawddach estuary and the Cadair Idris mountain range, come rain or shine, the view will never fail to impress, from inside or outside the house! The welcoming Halfway House pub is less than a two minute walk down the path from the house - ideal! From the back of the house, you can walk for miles and miles through the most beautiful woodland with cascading waterfalls and the famous Clogau gold mine.If you can tear yourself away from this delightful rural retreat, you can drive ten minutes into the popular seaside town of Barmouth, where time seems to have stopped and you can still see donkeys on the beach. A great selection of shops, cafes & pubs, and a permanent seaside fairground make this a wonderful place to visit. Dolgellau, a pretty market town is just 4 miles away and has plenty of restaurants. Another place to visit if you are looking for good pub food and a famous Welsh welcome, The fantastic Mawddach Bar which is just a few miles away. The local cycling facilities are great with the Coed y Brenin Forest and cycle centre close by and the Dolgellau - Barmouth Mawddach cycle path just two miles away.
All on one floor, Taliesin is perfect for families. The delightful country garden is awash with colour in Spring and Summer and complimented by the pretty seating area with garden furniture, the most beautiful spot to take in the view. Step into the hall and then left into a large double bedroom with king sized bed, underfloor heating, tub chairs looking out of the French windows towards the mountains and estuary, 32inch flatscreen TV with multi room Free-Sat. The modern en-suite has a shower, wash hand basin and loo, underfloor heating.
Across the hall into the contemporary open plan kitchen / sitting / dining room with its sumptuous leather wrap around sofa & tub chairs, large flatscreen TV & DVD with Free-Sat, and the most amazing view through the floor to ceiling wall of windows. Behind you, the well equipped kitchen has a dishwasher, integrated fridge, electric cooker and hob and a gorgeous wood burning stove set in an inglenook fireplace. The fridge freezer, washing machine and dryer are in the utility room.
A further three bedrooms, luxurious bed linen and pretty fabrics - two king sized doubles and a twin room with a wonderful waterfall tap over the little sink. Main bathroom with bath, loo and wash hand basin
Up the higgledy piggledy steps at the back to pretty country garden with a pond, summerhouse with furniture and spectacular views! - and of course the woods! There is parking for three cars.
We have just returned from a long weekend at Taliesin and have to say we thoroughly enjoyed it, the property was tatsefully done throughout and is set in a magnificent location, the views from the lounge area looking out over the estuary are breath taking, I would fully recommend this to whoever is thinking of staying in or around the area, you won't be disappointed Alan Costello
I can thoroughly recommend a stay at Taliesin, I enjoyed a very comfortable stay during the summer. This is a beautiful property tucked into the hillside, fully equipped with everything you could ever need and more! It has the most stunning, ever changing views, viewable from every room, which are hard to take your eyes off, I couldn't put my camera down! . I enjoyed long walks along the stunning estuary, walking around the coastal town of Barmouth and eating at many of the cafe's overlooking the busy harbour with the beautiful mountains in the distance. Taliesin's peaceful setting was the perfect base to recharge my batteries, thoroughly recommended. Cleo Conway
