Words cannot describe how splendid this house is! Standing above the Menai Strait with spectacular views, taking in the Menai Suspension Bridge, Bangor Pier, Penrhyn Castle with the dramatic backdrop of Snowdonia and its ever changing scenery. At night time the twinkling lights of boats sitting on their moorings, floodlit Penrhyn Castle and the moonlight on the mountains and sea is amazing.

Tan Y Coed is a gloriously happy house with a shabby chic charm. There are staggering views from every window, a terrace running the full length of the house and a full sized billiard table. In fact, just the house to enjoy gathering with friends and family. The house has been in the same family for forty years and is comfortably furnished with children and holidays in mind.

The large welcoming hall and splendid staircase make a fitting entrance to this resplendent house. The drawing room is just waiting to be filled with a gathering of family and friends throw open the French windows and enjoy a drink on the terrace before dinner, the views are sublime! Or relax in front of a crackling log fire in the winter months. Comfy chairs and sofas, a card table and a special scrabble table completes the picture. The billiard room doubles as a dining room if you put the top on the billiard table and gather the chairs together you have a formal dining room!

Two downstairs cloakrooms one with loo and the other with loo wash hand basin and shower together with a collection of good life jackets essential if you are crabbing, a dressing up chest and a collection of children's toys.

Sitting room ideal for children, TV with DVD, toy cupboard, crayoning table and plenty of books, French windows opening on to the terrace.

A cheerful happy kitchen with a large farmhouse table and chairs to seat everyone to one side of the kitchen and well equipped for cooking for large numbers with Rangemaster cooker with two ovens and six ring gas hob with griddle, magimix, hand blender, electric whisk, toasted sandwich maker, plenty of sensible sized saucepans and serving dishes. Pantry with slate tops housing fridge / freezer and microwave.

The utility room has washing machine, tumble drier, and the 2nd fridge / freezer, dog cage (Labrador size) and door to the garden.


Up the magnificent staircase to six bedrooms and three bathrooms. The master bedroom is just fabulous, an enormous bedroom with enormous bed and amazing views, en suite bathroom with loo, wash hand basin and bath with shower over.

Three further rooms all with wash hand basins: one with twin beds and 2 with double beds. Two other rooms: one double bed with extra single bed and one children's room with bunk beds and a single bed.

Two bathrooms. These are retro one less so than the other but the proper bath makes up for this and the tin soldiers!! Both have bath with shower over, wash hand basin and loo.

Outside the terrace runs the length of the house with garden furniture, table tennis and a very special barbecue, with special bits and pieces such as spit and kebab slots, for the serious cook. Steps down to the large landing stage and waters edge at high tide. WE ADVISE THAT CHILDREN SHOULD NOT GO UNACCOMPANIED OR WITHOUT LIFEJACKETS.


A magnificent house where you cannot fail to have memorable and happy times.
