One of three very pretty stone cottages recently converted from farm buildings. A wonderful wild setting, glorious sea views, no light pollution, fantastic wild life. Enjoy the peace and quiet at this romantic hideaway. If you want hustle and bustle the busy seaside village of Trearddur Bay is just along the road.Y Wennol, meaning Swallow, has been beautifully put together carefully combining old and new, pretty fabrics, lovely pictures, comfy mattresses and squashy duvets!
Open plan living room which is snug year round. The dining table and chairs take their place well in the corner behind the sofa and chairs which look out through the French windows across pasture land where the Welsh Black cattle graze towards the mountain. The kitchen is equipped with electric oven and hob, fridge, microwave, there is a shared freezer and washing machine in the outside utility. Flat screen TV with DVD, Cd player and Wi Fi.
The double bedroom has wonderful views, the bed can be made up either as a kingsize or twin bed. I love the fabrics in this room and the light fitting in the en suite shower room which is fitted with large shower, loo and wash hand basin.
The front of the cottage has a pretty garden with table and chairs where you can sit and soak up the breathtaking views of the ocean, the mountain towards South Stack in front of you and Holyhead Harbour in the other direction.......bliss!
For additional guests, neighbouring Y Barcud (sleeping 6) and Y Wylan (sleeping 2), can also be booked.
We stayed in Y wennol in september it is a fantastic property and even though your joined onto the other cottage you cannot hear your neighbours so making it a very peaceful property. Acces is down the farm track to a large parking area. View from the seated patio looks onto holyhead mountain and we spent many a happy hour watching the donkeys and llamas in the farm fields in front of the property. Theres hardly any light pollution so stargazing is amazing.From the end of the driveway by turning left your a 5 minute car ride from treaudder bay and by turning right your a 5 minute car ride to the centre of holyhead.where you will find large supermarkets and a retail park with a few shops argos etc.The owner gwyneth was a perfect host very friendly and a constant source of local knowledge in fact one of the best we have encountered on our many holidays on the island.The welcome pack on our arrival was a lovely suprise and the 6 free still warm free range eggs were beautiful. A very clean homely well equiped property we would highly recomend y wennol and are hoping to return next year. Plus there are a good selection of walks from the property so you dont need to use your car unless you intend to explore the island. We can recomend the walk from y wennol to the south stack lighthouse at the top turn right and walk the circular route around the mountain and back to the cafe for dinner.perfect holiday and perfect host thanks gwyneth we will return. steve&bridget johnson
Fantastic cottage so well equipped. We were greeted with a tea tray and other goodies such as wine and eggs, also a lovely bunch of flowers. There were several books of coastal walks, many of which we completed. The views from the cottage were superb. Gwyneth was the perfect host that made our holiday. Gray and Maureen Wilson
