Recommended places to Eat
Here are just a few of the places we think serve and sell great food in North Wales. If you have any more you have tried and would like to recommend then please let us know. Selective Seafoods are excellent.
Tafarn y Bont - The Bridge Inn, Menai Bridge
A busy fun bar
restaurant great atmosphere, the menu is
interesting, the food well prepared and the atmosphere friendly and welcoming. Next to the bridge
(Anglesey side) Telford Road,
Menai Bridge Telephone 01248 716888 Tell Scottie you have come via Menai Holiday Cottages
Mo Jo's,Rhosneigr
Simply the best sea bass I have ever eaten is here, in this simple converted front room on the high street in the village, if they catch a sea bass they cook it and they cook it to perfection. The only problem is it is a small cosy little place and you need to book in advance I have tried to eat here many times this year and could not get in....... I am delighted say I did get in last week and it still is the best Sea Bass I have ever tasted, great service good wine and delicious tapenade! Telephone 01407 810 598 01.06.09
Ye Old Bulls Head, Beaumaris
The restaurant at the Ye Olde Bulls Head in Beaumaris is first class, a really mouthwatering interesting menu with an emphasis on local food, friendly and efficient service, you do need to book, for a more informal meal try the Brasserie, you cannot book, but you can enjoy a drink in the cosy bar where you will find locals chatting over a pint and a friendly service.
The White Eagle, Rhoscolyn, Anglesey
A gastro pub with the most amazing view across the bay. Good food, try the Oyster Shot a delicious way to eat Anglesey fresh oysters, emphasis on local food, and they cook a very good steak. Look out for special weeks - recently they had a sausage and mash week. They do not take bookings. The Maelog at Rhosneigr is under the same ownership. Not as good as the White Eagle.
The Ship Inn, Red Wharf Bay, Anglesey
A charming olde worlde pub and restaurant overlooking Red Wharf Bay. I have eaten here on several occasions - outside during summer with glorious views of the bay and inside the cosy Inn with a roaring fire during winter. The food and service are excellent and The Ship has become a favourite for Anglesey residents and visitors alike. Red Wharf Bay, near Pentraeth. Telephone 01248 852568
Hootons’, Brynsciencyn on the A4080
Recently
championed by Gary Rhodes - Hootons’ farm has a farm
shop and informal restaurant housed in a massive greenhouse overlooking the
Snowdonia mountains. Hootons’ produce
their own good quality meat and vegetables including asparagus and soft fruits
in season (you can pick your own strawberries if you prefer). I have lunch at Hootons’ regularly and always
find the food well cooked and tasty, as you would expect from such fresh
ingredients. Good coffee, soup and cakes
too! Telephone 01248 430344

The Old Boathouse, Red Wharf Bay
Situated on the edge of Red Wharf Bay, The Old Boathouse has two restaurants. Upstairs is the a la carte Mediterranean restaurant offering fine dining and excellent seafood with panoramic sea views. Below is the Boathouse Café restaurant for more informal dining, which has comprehensive standard and seasonal menus and an outside dining area for sunny days. The food is excellent and the staff efficient and friendly. Red Wharf Bay, near Pentraeth. Telephone 01248 852731
Cafe Aethwy
On the high street in Menai Bridge bustling with people. Good soup and paninis, delicious millionaires' shortbread and above all good company!
Sullivan's, Rhosneigr
Sullivan's is a friendly cheerful restaurant, café open all day may have limited opening in the winter months, but usually open at weekends. Great for a coffee and delicious cake after a walk, delicious Sunday lunches often have roast sirloin or rib of beef from the well know butcher in Valley. Stone baked pizza eat in or order to take out. Telephone 01407 810111
Kyffin, Bangor
Kyffin serves interesting vegetarian food, tea and cakes on the High Street in Bangor and sells a good selection of chocolates and delicatessen goods. A pleasing alternative ambience. Owner of one of our cottages Bryn Derwen. 129 High Street, Bangor. Telephone: 01248 355161
Pete's Eats Llanberis
Pete’s is just the place to stop for a hearty meal and a pint mug of tea after a days’ walking or climbing in the Llanberis Pass. 40 High Street, Llanberis, LL55 4EU. You can’t miss Pete’s – a corner building in the middle of the Llanberis high street painted bright blue. Telephone 01286 870117
The Caban, Bryn Refail
The Caban is set in green, tranquil surroundings, looking out over massive trees and gardens ideal for children. A new addition is a superb decking area from which to enjoy high quality and interesting food. Although not purely vegetarian, the Caban has recently been voted one of the top 10 vegetarian restaurants in the UK by The Good Food Guide. Many of the vegetables and some fruit is grown on site. If you are looking for something different, the Caban holds ‘Food of the World’ buffet evenings on Saturday nights at £10 per head – pre-booking is essential.Caban Cyf, Yr Hen Ysgol, Brynrefail, near Llanberis, LL55 3NR.
