My summer so far...in snaps!

I moved to North Wales eight years ago now (I went to uni, met a boy - you can guess the rest of the story!); when it’s bathed in sunshine, I don’t feel the draw of a summer holiday overseas as I’m perfectly happy here. If you don’t fancy the faff of airports, having your personals manhandled by a security guard, and the pressure of packing within a baggage limit (when you can fill a whole car instead…), then for those of you who live in the UK a holiday at home could be just up your street! Here’s some photographic inspiration (I hope!) straight from my social feed.

Left to right below: sunshine book-reading with a view on my lunchbreak. A glorious sunset over Anglesey. An alfresco supper at The Outbuildings in their new BBQ hut. The spectacular Laburnum arch at Bodnant Gardens. A tasty breakfast in a café. Valle Crucis Abbey in Llangollen.

Left to right below: me enjoying a drink in the sunshine at The Ship Inn, Red Wharf Bay (I’m a woman that drinks pints of real ale, and proud!). An abundance of wild garlic in the lanes of Anglesey during early summer. The breathtaking view from the parapet of Conwy Castle. My mug of coffee with an early morning sunrise in the background, taken at our very own Maelgwyn in Criccieth! A paella at Dylan’s in Menai Bridge. A moody shot of the ocean, taken on the Llyn Peninsula.

Most of my family and friends from back home look through my social feeds and regularly comment to say that they’ll ‘have to visit’ and ‘really should get to North Wales more often’. I tell them to stop visiting via my social feed and actually get up here! So, if you too are prone to ‘visit’ places through the social feeds of others, stop scrolling through those #visitwales hashtags and actually book a break here instead. I promise you that you won’t regret it.

If you can’t commit to a week - and let’s face it, our cottages are pretty full for summer now - why not consider a last minute getaway for the August Bank Holiday? Short breaks are now open!
