Winter breaks in North Wales
When thinking of places to venture in the coming winter months, North Wales may not be your first thought. However, I’m here to tell you why it should be! Not only has North Wales been voted number 4 in the top 10 regions to visit in the 2017 Lonely Planet Travel Guide (the only UK region to feature in the list, I should add); it really is a year-round destination.
Like all places, with the changing seasons, comes changing colours, changing wildlife and of course, changing weather! But winter doesn’t have to mean North Wales is off limits. Some of the region's attractions may have reduced opening hours for the season, but the great outdoors never closes its doors to visitors!
North Wales is home to the most spectacular scenery throughout the year; there are miles and miles of coastline, forests, mountain ranges and wonderful Welsh countryside to take in during your travels. Even though the temperature drops, there is nothing better than wrapping up and making the most of wintery walks in the great outdoors. Picture a beautiful beach on a crisp day, strolling the sand with the sea breeze making your cheeks glow and breathing in that Welsh fresh air your lungs long for. That bright blue sky and winter chill kept at bay by layers and a brisk pace. Or you could be gazing from atop the Great Orme, making progress on the many coastal paths in the region or watching wonderful wildlife - North Wales in winter still offers its visitors plenty to explore!
After all your adventures, there is no better place to rest your head (and most probably tired feet) than a cosy cottage! We have cottages across the whole of North Wales where you can enjoy relaxing in comfort, put your feet up and take it easy. Maybe even light the log burner, to get extra warm and toasty. Whether it be on Anglesey, the Lleyn Peninsula or in Snowdonia we’ll have the perfect cottage for your winter getaway. Want to bring your dog along for winter walks too? Not a problem! We have nearly 200 dog-friendly cottages that are perfect for you and your pooch.
Don’t be put off by the season, winter in North Wales is just as magical as any other time of year - just make sure to bring your woolly hat and walking boots! What are you waiting for? The outdoors is ready for your arrival!
