The Christmas season is rapidly drawing closer and there are many fun and festive events happening in North Wales in November and December. You can see the full list of events here but we have picked out some highlights.
Personally, I love the look of wreaths of berries, holly, pine cones and cinnamon sticks. And there are a multitude of workshops to attend to hone those creative skills and learn how to adorn your front door with good cheer.
Widow Twanky and Friends
If you love a good panto then Venue Cymru has its annual pantomime, this year it’s Cinderella ‘Oh no it isn’t’ oh yes it is.’ And if you are prepared to travel a little further afield, Theatre Clwyd runs a fantastic rock ‘n’ roll Pantomime !!
There are Christmas fayres aplenty from Oriel Mon Christmas Craft Fair to Bangor University Student Christmas Market, Surf Snowdonia Christmas Market, and the wonderful Victorian Christmas event in Beaumaris.
Having stocked up on gifts you may be in need of some more reflective time in the midst of the madness. Take some time to celebrate the Winter Solstice with a stargazing event at Bryn Celli Ddu.
Meet the red jolly man
The Welsh Highland and Ffestiniog Railway run their annual Santa Trains. Don your best Christmas jumper, meet Father Christmas and his elves, whilst sipping on some mulled wine watching the beautiful scenery unfold, and munch on a mince pie or three! Or alternatively see all the events at the National Trust properties here.
As the true spirit of Christmas though is all about giving why not give some of your time to a good cause. Help North Wales Wildlife Trust to protect an upland mire from becoming a conifer plantation by pulling and cutting seedlings and saplings… and find your Christmas tree in the process.
Come and Stay
Of course with so much going on there is still time to book a last minute holiday cottage over the Christmas and New Year period. There are some great offers to be had across Snowdonia, Anglesey and the Llŷn Peninsula. Click here for Christmas and here for New Year. Start off the year with a Park Run in one of the many beautiful locations in North Wales and purify your body after all the indulgences over Christmas with this January Detox one day retreat.

We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
