Calling all adrenaline junkies

If you’re seeking your next thrill fix, here’s a rundown of my top 5 high adrenaline activities in North Wales.

1. Climbing in Snowdonia

We don’t just sell holidays for a living, we also endure some gruelling adrenaline activities in the name of research! Last winter we went out with two of the fantastic folks over at Gaia Adventures and had an absolute blast. We got soaking wet whilst hiking to and climbing a rock face which we subsequently abseiled down. There were bruised knees and sore muscles all around the next day, but it was well worth it! You’ll get an incredible buzz once you’ve climbed that rock and you’re soaking up the amazing views from a new vantage point.

Go Ape

2. Treetop Adventure, Conwy

If you have ever wished you could be Tarzan, then this is the place for you! This award-winning high ropes course is not for the faint-hearted. Swing through trees, plummet from the summit of the tree top tower, or try the Sky Ride which features in our ‘Can You Handle It?’ video. Trust us, it’s a lot of fun!

3. Bed on the Edge, Anglesey or Snowdonia

If you’re scared of heights, skip to number 4! However, if you like to challenge yourself, our next one is definitely for you. You can start your day with a climb on the Gogarth Cliffs at Holyhead (you can also choose a location in Betws y Coed), then abseil down to your Portalege bed that’s suspended against the side of a cliff. Soak up the sea views from here with your supper before settling down for the night.

4. Zip Below Xtreme, Conwy

Whilst Claire and Jim from our Criccieth office have trialled the Zip Wire, we’ve not yet attempted this below-ground version. Named the Goliath, the 5k underground route has a 130m zip wire which dips below 1,300ft and boasts a 70ft free fall into total darkness. It’s been labelled the ‘UK’s scariest assault course’. We can understand why!

5. Bounce Below, Blaenau Ffestiniog

What’s not to love about a trampoline…underground? You can bounce the time away whilst enjoying a light show deep within a slate quarry. It’s child friendly too, so perfect for younger thrill-seekers looking for adrenaline activities in North Wales. Utter genius!

After all that climbing, bouncing and zipping it’s time to find somewhere to eat, drink and sleep! Here are some holiday cottages near some of the most popular adrenaline activities in Llanberis, the Conwy Valley and Maentwrog (for activities in Blaenau Ffestiniog).
