Or if you’re more into seeing than doing, there are historic buildings, museums and National Trust gardens within reach too! There really is so much to discover around Abergele. We’ve picked a handful of attractions in and around Abergele with something for the whole family!

Wooded hills surround a lot of the town and are a rather undiscovered gem. Climb Cefn-yr-Ogof, Tower hill or Castell Cawr which has an iron age hill fort, and make the most of the spectacular views over the town and towards the sea. A must visit is the beautiful Pensarn Beach, of which part is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). With its 2 miles of soft golden sand it offers a safe haven for all manner of activities. You can fly your kite on a breezy day, take part in watersports in the surf or just stroll along the prom taking in the sea air. This dog friendly beach is also home to amusements and crazy golf providing plenty of entertainment for the whole family.

Abergele Golf Club welcomes visitors and is deemed one of the most beautiful courses in Wales. With coastal views and the backdrop of the impressive Gwrych Castle, this 18 hole parkland course is second to none. Conwy golf course, one of the best golf courses in North Wales, is nearby, meaning you really are spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding where to tee off in this neck of the woods!

Gwrych Castle, one of North Wales’ most incredible castles, is a 19th Century country house that has had many owners and uses over the years. The upkeep and maintenance of such a large estate meant, unfortunately, overtime it fell into disrepair. Now owned privately, the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust is serving to guide the planned restoration. With renovations already underway and plans for a visitors centre, there is hope to restore it to its former glory!

Sitting close to the coast, Pentre Mawr Park offers something a bit different from the coastal landscape of it neighbours.
