Last year we saw Wales’ ‘Year of Adventure’ highlight all the epic experiences that can be had here…this year it is the stuff of Legends and a chance to showcase the best of Wales’ culture, heritage and ancient landscapes.
There are countless legends associated with Wales and North Wales certainly has its fair share of magical myth and legend to shout about; and we think holidaying here is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the epic story of North Wales. Lets celebrate it’s epic past, present and future! Part of the aim for the Year of Legends is to help stories of the past become reimagined, retold and most importantly rediscovered through new eyes. If you’re looking to travel to somewhere full of culture, myths and folklore then North Wales is your perfect playground. Majestic mountains, castles, cromlechs and enough stone circles to throw your hat at; all with their own history and secrets just waiting to be explored.
Holidaying in North Wales during the ‘Year of Legends’ has much more to offer than tales and myths – it’s an EPIC region with endless possibilities to make legendary holiday memories that will last a lifetime!
Are you looking for a legendary beach break? Whether you’re after adrenalin watersports, sand for your bucket & spade or somewhere for leisurely seaside strolls, the 125 miles of coastline surrounding the Isle of Anglesey ought to cover it!
Looking for adventure? As the UK’s adventure Capital, Snowdonia is the place to be to have legendary experiences! After all the excitement, unwind & relax in one of our fantastic cottages covering the region.
Looking for a bit of everything? The Llyn Peninsula is the perfect place to mix beach days with relaxing brunches, walking & water sports. From the bustling Abersoch to the famous Ty Coch pub on the beach – you’ll have a legendary holiday here!
The North Wales landscape is littered with legends, you’ll find almost every lake, rock and hilltop will come with its own tale attached. As you can imagine over time; history and mythology, past and present, have become sometimes seamlessly intertwined — and that’s what makes North Wales so wonderfully unique!
It is often said that Wales is an ancient landscape and I would have to agree – parts of the region feel almost untouched; it is personally in this beauty and its accompanying rich history that really does make it legendary in my eyes. When you reach the summit of a mountain, walk across a beach breathing in the sea air, happen across a different view of an often visited place, hear an interesting tale of times gone by or explore one of its many amazing castles; it’s magical. The best thing is that North Wales will have something legendary to suit you!
If adrenalin is more your thing then not to worry! There is plenty of opportunity here for legendary adventures and experiences – take the world’s fastest zip wire, the new Fforest rollercoaster or giant trampolines within underground caverns! There are lots of events too, such as ‘The Tournament’ in Conwy this June (23rd, 24th & 25th); where the whole town will host a legendary weekend of free fun for all the family, find out more here. A one-off this year is the Anglesey National Eisteddfod which is taking place on the 4th -12th August 2017 – to learn more about this legendary festival you can read my blog.
