“Absolutely lovely cottage and for six people had plenty of space.”

Well kitted out kitchen and bedrooms were all lovely, comfortable and clean. The overall decor of the cottage was good but needing a bit of tlc. It looks like it’s well used and perhaps ready for some refreshing. It met our expectations apart from the garden which in the promotion material shows a well cared for garden ready for the holiday maker to enjoy. Last week that was not the case. The garden was well overrun, bushes, roses etc and the grass obviously hadn’t been cut for a while, ...

The garden was well overrun, bushes, roses etc and the grass obviously hadn’t been cut for a while, very disappointing. The Gardner came on Friday morning as we were leaving Saturday. The recycling and refuse was also an issue. Although the information pack said they were emptied on Fridays that wasn’t the case when we arrived, Saturday 29th June, they were all overflowing! I would be interested in booking this cottage again but cost wise it’s at the top end. I regularly book cottages in Beaumaris and will bear it in mind,

Dear Mr Butterworth Thank you for sharing your views on Church Cottage. I am disappointed that we seem to have let you down in a couple of areas. Regarding the garden : we transitioned in the second half of June from fortnightly to weekly visits by the gardener . Somehow there was a misunderstanding between myself and the gardener . Instead of coming the day before your arrival , he came a week later . I can assure you that now that we are back on track , the garden looks very nice . Regarding the bins : we pay for private rubbish collection ( Gaskells ) , a service which is organised via Menai Holidays . Unfortunately this was missed on your visit as the driver did not have on him the key to access the back of the house . I have discussed this with Menai and we will put in place a stricter control to ensure this no longer happens . In your comments your refer to bins that were “ all overflowing “ : can I just say that we only have one clearly identified bin - the other bins belong to the neighbours. Finally regarding the decor : Church Cottage has been a family home for many years and we want it to remain that way . It is part of its charm and character. We decorate regularly and intend to continue to look after this house with great care , hoping that our guests share our love for it . Kind regards Celia Hutchison Owner relations

The property

Church Cottage is a lovely Georgian listed holiday house nestled in the heart of the wonderful seaside town of Beaumaris, on Anglesey.

The house is full of character everywhere you look.

Modern fixtures and fittings tastefully contrast with the period feel of this traditional holiday house, demonstrating the care that the owners have taken over its sympathetic restoration.

There are so many things we love about Church Cottage that it's hard to list them all, however, one of our favourites is the outlook from the conservatory, which overlooks the large walled garden (rare in Beaumaris!) or catching a glimpse of Snowdonia above the slate roofs of Beaumaris from one of the bedrooms. Modern, well equipped kitchen with electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher washing machine, tumble dryer and a microwave From the kitchen you can head out into the garden.

The breakfast room is a bright space, with a garden outlook. The larger, more formal dining room also has views out to the garden.

The main sitting room has plenty of space for the whole family with comfortable seating and a TV.

There is also a smaller 'snug' with a fire There is also a TV in this room with a DVD player. On the ground floor are two loos. Stairs lead up to the bedrooms, a double with ensuiteshower room and a twin bedroom to the front of the house overlooking the Church opposite.

Two interlinking bedrooms at the back of the house have views over the garden; The double room has a super-king sized bed.

The single room has an additional trundle bed, which can be made up by prior request. Family bathroom with bath, shower, loo and wash hand basin. To the rear is a lovely, private and enclosed garden with a mix of trees and shrubs.

It’s a lovely, tranquil space in which to relax and recharge your batteries on a sunny afternoon.

Church Cottage also has the added benefit of off-road parking for one car comfortably but it is possible for two small cars to fit if you don’t mind the space being tight.

Beaumaris is a lovely, historic town and has so much to offer that it is difficult to know where to begin!

There are plenty of shops to wander and windows to browse - Janet Bell's art gallery is well worth a look.

The Brasserie is just a few minutes' walk away, and with so much choice for places to eat, Beaumaris is the perfect holiday base!

The Pier House on the front is just about the best location in North Wales to sit and read your morning paper.

The views looking back over the water towards Snowdonia will take your breath away.

If you want to venture slightly further afield then consider the glorious Plas Cadnant Gardens; set in 200 acres of land, the blooms in this historic garden are well worth viewing. From here you will be able to easily explore not only the rest of Anglesey but venture across to the mainland, see Snowdonia and explore the Llyn Peninsula too.

About the location

BEAUMARIS

Menai Bridge 4 miles.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.

Note: Gardener every Wednesday for 2 hours.
