“Blind in kitchen broken which looks out on to front pavement and can’t be used.”

The listing states a dryer but there isn’t one and bathroom radiator doesn’t work. I did email sykes the blind and radiator issue but as an email rather than through the portal so it may have got lost. The dishwasher was full of dirty crockery as well when we got there. We had an issue with the Yale lock which Sykes sorted the day after which was a bit worrying as it was so stiff we thought the key would snap. We had to leave a front window ajar in case we couldn’t get back in which I explained it n my phone call but still it was scheduled for the following day although I reported it at 9am by phone. We went to the garage and got some oil to help out until it was sorted. The cottage is in a nice location and pleasant . Small point - there was no kitchen implement to get eggs out of pan which is easily resolved and no deal breaker. The back yard is unkempt and overgrown and no mention in the listing that there is a pond simply covered by a pallet which our small dog could easily have slipped through. In other cottages there is an info pack written by the owner for the cottage to help understand things rather than having to read instruction leaflets. This had just a ring binder one with manufacturers instructions for appliances and it was impossible to see what day was bin day. Hence why they were full when we got there. The flooring in downstairs bathroom is loose as you walk through the door and one plank of it comes away from the rest. One of the cushions in living room was covered in white dog hair and there wasn’t any wood or coal to light the fire which we would have made use of as the weather wasn’t good. The towels felt quite worn and it would’ve been nicer to have more of them particularly as there is nothing to dry them on in shower room and radiator in bathroom didn’t work. Loved the beds and bedding and the bathrooms were nice. The cottage has a lovely feel to it and the aga is a nice touch. Thank you for having us in your home.

About the location

BEAUMARIS

Menai Bridge 4 miles.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.
