“The House was amazing and perfect for our group.”

Situated close to so many activities but yet still felt secluded in its own beautiful grounds . It was spotless and had everything we could possibly need - I would highly recommend and will definitely be booking again.

The property

Bethesda 1.6 miles.

This large, detached cottage, Yr Ocar, is nestled next to the Galedffrwd river in Coed-y-parc near Bethesda, Gwynedd.

The cottage sleeps 15 people in seven bedrooms and is close to Snowdonia National Park, making it ideal for special occasions or long-overdue family gatherings in North Wales' picturesque environment.

Ample off-road parking makes it simple to get to this tranquil site, which is surrounded by trees and accompanied by the sound of a flowing river.

When you enter the main home, you'll find a large kitchen/diner that serves as the social hub, with rustic seating for all 15 guests, two leather sofas, and a Smart TV for dinner entertainment.

Two steps lead to the well-equipped kitchen area, where the group's chef can stock up on local produce and utilise a fantastic range cooker, microwave, and fridge/freezer.

An extra fridge, as well as a washing machine and tumble dryer, are located in a convenient utility room where muddy walking gear can be washed.

In the light-filled sitting area, with four sofas to relax into and a Smart TV, host a movie marathon or a family games night, while the woodburning stove gently warms the room on chilly nights.

To make the most of your countryside getaway, stroll out onto the balcony overlooking the river on summer evenings and toast to your idyllic retreat!

Alternatively, why not make dinner an alfresco occasion in the side garden?

On the patio, there's enough space for everyone, as well as a lawn area where kids and pets may play, or you can spread out a blanket for a family picnic.

Walk immediately from the house into the nearby woodland, which is bordered by bike paths and walking paths.

At Yr Ocar, every guest has a pleasant room with storage, a hairdryer, and a kettle with complimentary teas and coffees; all beds have a zip/link function allowing adaptable sleeping arrangements to suit a variety of parties!

The main house contains five bedrooms, including two super-king-size rooms on the ground floor, which are perfect for elderly relatives or those with limited mobility, and a super-king-size, triple room, and single room on the first floor, all of which have en-suites.

In the annexe, there are two more super-king-size bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.

There will be no bathroom queues at Yr Ocar owing to an additional ground-floor shower room for a hot rinse to start your day, as well as a convenient cloakroom to freshen up before stepping out.

Take a short trip into Bethesda to stock up on basic essentials, Bangor offers the larger supermarkets, or take a break from cooking; there are a range of shops and cafés to choose from in many of the towns close by including Llanberis, Caernarfon and Betws Y Coed.

Zip World Penrhyn Quarry is near to Yr Ocar and perfect for thrill seekers, while Snowdonia National Park offers rugged paths, mountain treks, woodland hikes, and outdoor sports.

Hike up Carnedd Llewelyn for stunning views, follow the meadow terrain to Aber Falls, or explore the National Trust's Carneddau and Glyderau.

Yr Ocar is close to a number of towns and villages, including Bangor, where you can stroll down the seafront, lunch in a quaint café, and explore the neighbouring Penrhyn Castle and Garden.

Travel farther north along the coast to Llanfairfechan, where you can paddle in the sea from the pebble beach and hike the coastal route to Morfa Madryn Nature Reserve, while Caernarfon is rich in Welsh history and culture.

Caernarfon Castle, the famed Galeri Caernarfon, and Caer Rufeinig Segontium, the intriguing remains of a Roman fort, are all worth seeing.
