Good location with view over the river, the owners are helpful and friendly, a bit disappointed that you have to pay for a shower & cleanliness could be just a bit better

The property

Located on a beautiful caravan and camping site in the North Wales village of Llanrug, Llety'r Bugail is a charming shepherd's hut offering a romantic retreat in the foothills of the Snowdonia Mountain Range.

Sitting in a prime location on the site overlooking the River Seiont, Llety'r Bugail makes a fantastic base for an adventurous break with your loved one.

Inside the hut you can find a homely decor with a sofa to relax on while you admire the views through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, great for nature watching from the warmth of the hut.

In milder temperatures enjoy sitting out on your own private decked terrace with a table and chairs and a barbecue for the perfect summer afternoon, all with the idyllic backdrop of the running river.

Find a small kitchen space which holds all you need to rustle up some tasty dishes, including a microwave, small fridge/freezer and a 2-ring electric hob.

Retire to the double bed at the end of the day to catch up on rest for all the coming adventures.

The shepherd's hut has a cloakroom area in the corner with a chemical WC, but more facilities can be found on-site with a shared shower and WC block and a shared utility area with a washing machine.

The Snowdonia National Park is on your doorstep, begin your activities here and head to Llanberis where the Snowdonia Mountain Railway begins, get the train up to the UK's highest visitor centre, Hafod Eryri, and experience stunning panoramic views of the area, or for those who enjoy the challenge of walking there are extensive trails and routes up Snowdon and the surrounding area perfect for walkers.

Llanberis is also home to Snowdonia Watersports, a company which can offer sessions in paddle-boarding, wild swimming, coasteering and both inland and sea kayaking, adding a further taste of adventure to your holiday.

Get your history fix and visit Dolbadarn Castle and the Llanberis Slate Museum in Llanberis, or head over to the coast to Caernarfon to see the Segontium Roman Fort and Caernarfon Castle with its unusual polygonal towers.

Grab a fishing permit on-site and relax by the water with great fishing in the River Seiont, while golfers can delight in several excellent courses in the area including Caernarfon Golf Club and Bangor Golf Club.

Enjoy a relaxing stay in this scenic location of North Wales at Llety'r Bugail.

About the location

Llanberis 2 miles; Caernarfon 4 miles; Betws-y-Coed 15 miles.

Llanrug is a small village with two pubs, two shops, a Post Office, a hotel with indoor swimming pool and fitness room, and a 9 hole golf course is nearby. The village is situated in the foothills of the Snowdonia Mountain Range, only 3 miles from famous Llanberis. Dominated by the grandeur of the Snowdon Massif, Llanberis is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris, and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. Llanberis is something of a 'mecca' for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in Wales. The ascent can be made either by train, on the Snowdonia Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Llanberis boasts excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. Just 4 miles from Llanrug, on the coast, is Caernarfon with its magnificent 13th century castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn and Plas Newydd and many wonderful beaches.
