We had the most peaceful relaxing Easter week after a long lockdown. ...

We had the most peaceful relaxing Easter week after a long lockdown. There is a really lovely secure garden - great for children & dogs. You are a stones throw from the pebble beach, icecream parlour , pub & cafe . We loved Moelfre because it is a tiny village . If you want something more lively, it isn’t for you. The local shop is a gem. Fresh bread & homemade pies every day ! The chippy is also great. As no restaurants were open we used the Waitrose in Menai Bridge & cooked at home. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking & a dining room big enough for 6. House was spotless & well aired. Bay View is a very old cottage with electric heating and lots of draughty breezes in places but you have to expect that in a house that old . We had wild weather of sunshine & snow. & used the open fire every day which kept the place cosy & warm. It would be wonderful In summer with the french doors open to the garden & we will definitely return again. Sykes were excellent . We had 2 bookings we couldn’t take during lockdown & We got full automatic refunds - no quibble . Excellent comms. We have booked with them again & would highly recommend. All in all an excellent experience & one of the few benefits of Covid being able to travel only within Wales !

“This cottage has everything you need, is tastefully decorated and the views are amazing.”

As well as what’s shown in the pictures there is a really useful utility room as well. The village of Moelfre is lovely and has what you need in a great pub, cafe, chippy, shop and ice cream parlour. The cottage is so close to the beach it was easy to just pop down there in the morning for some fresh sea air to wake up! I would definitely recommend Bay View and I will certainly return.

The house and garden are very well equipped and the perfect place to relax. Some items have been removed due to COVID books etc, however, this did not detract from our enjoyment. We would love to visit again soon.

“This cottage certainly lives up to its name and the views over the bay do not disappoint!”

If you are lucky, as we were and get good weather, make sure you get up to see the sunrise as the photo opportunity is incredible. The cottage itself is very quirky, in particular the galley. It's a small but very bright and picturesque space for cooking and watching the ocean activities from the window seat. As the weather was so good, we spent most of our time outside in the lovely garden of an evening and the coastal path is right on your doorstep with plenty of walking around the stunning coastline during the day. The upstairs master bedroom is very spacious, with stunning views and in all honesty, could be further enhanced with a super king size bed for extra comfort (assuming you could get one up those stairs!!). The rest of the cottage has plenty of space and comfort for larger groups and the garden is secure for your four legged family members. All in all, a fabulous holiday cottage set in a wonderful, traditional village and we would most certainly recommend.

The property

Bay View is a well-presented, detached property, approximately 100 metres from the beach at Moelfre, with off-road parking for three or four cars.

The property enjoys spectacular views over the Irish Sea towards the East coast of Anglesey, the Great Orme and Snowdonia, this comfortable cottage offers an ideal base for a family wanting a traditional Welsh coastal holiday in an area of outstanding natural beauty and enjoying an unspoilt coastline, picturesque landscapes and many historical and archeaeological landmarks, in addition Moelfre also has an active lifeboat service, the lifeboat station being within a five minute walk of the property.

Bay View was built in the 1800's and has been sympathetically restored and extended by the present owners, who have maintained its traditional charm, the property now comprises three bedrooms, two doubles and one with two full size bunk beds, two bathrooms, and a lounge which still has its original open fireplace; a converted conservatory with multi fuel stove and a kitchen with all the appliances needed to prepare delicious family meals which can be eaten in the adjoining dining room, like the kitchen, lounge and conservatory, the dining room has views across the bay and has the benefit of French windows which open on to the patio area, so meals can be enjoyed outside when the weather permits.

All the rooms are heated during the winter months and a particular feature of Bay View is the separate back door entrance into a spacious hard floor utility area, ideal for cleaning and drying wet or muddy dogs and with plenty of space for the dogs to sleep at night!

Additionally this area has an extra fridge, a freezer and washing machine, as well as its own sink a large worktop and lots of hooks for coats, life jackets etc.

Outside there are two sitting areas and a decent sized lawn, all contained within an established garden.

The local pub, which serves food is just beyond the beach and the village has a wool shop, a fish and chip cafe, a local convenience store as well as a bistro style cafe!

Visit the hugely popular local Seawatch Centre, enjoy fishing or watching sea birds, seals and even dolphins, or discover wonderful cliff-top walks with stunning mountain views. The village has many historic links, the most recent being the site of the tragic Royal Charter shipwreck in 1859.
