“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Marion Farm with our Son 2 grandsons and golden retriever.”

It's a comfortable clean home from home retreat with lots of lovely walks in the country side exploring castles and beaches, the boys 6 and 4 loved watching the boats out at sea to the wildlife in the garden and helping bring the wood in for a cosy fire at night. An excellent holiday.

The property

Marian Farm is an early 18th century farmhouse, much loved by its long-term owners. From the oak ship's beam that frames the inglenook to the thick stone walls and original floor tiles, it has been thoughtfully restored to keep its traditional atmosphere. It combines modern luxuries with a sense of stepping back to a simpler time.

Set amid fields and common land, with views to the sea and Puffin Island, Marian Farm is used as a writer's bolthole and family retreat. It is surrounded by a walled 'woodland' garden with many levels and places to sit, including a fire-pit for summer BBQs.Follow the sun around the building - you can always find a sheltered spot. Indoors, the stunning double-height kitchen is rustic in style and well equipped for cooking and dining; an extendable oak table seats six or more. The sitting room with its window seat and inglenook is a cosy place to curl up with a book, or the DVD sets provided. The conservatory is a delightful place to watch the ships at sea with a sunset drink, or a simple supper. The bedrooms with their angled ceiling and beams are quirky and quaint, with quality beds and linen. One bedroom is accessed up a narrow ship's staircase, and has an adjoining space for yoga/exercise.This is a peaceful and unusual place to unwind, under beautiful dark night-skies. In 30-40 minutes you can follow the coastal path to Penmon Point (one of The Guardian's top ten UK beaches in 2019), where there's a cafe for your morning coffee or lunch.Or, use the permit provided which enables you to park at the historic Penmon Priory and use the toll road to Penmon Point.

Nearby there is walking to suit all, from strolls around the ruins of Castell Aberlleiniog or the red squirrel woodland at Henllys Hall, to long rambles along the Coastal path, with pebbly White Beach just a mile away.Beaumaris, an attractive town with good restaurants, pubs, a pier and a castle, is a ten-minute drive. There are many stunning Anglesey beaches within easy striking distance, while Snowdonia with its beautiful scenery/walking routes and wide range of attractions can be reached in 30-40 minutes.
