  • “A magical little cottage which is very quaint but also very comfortable, everything we needed was supplied and the owners are absolutely lovely, a welcome message on the board and they popped round to check we were OK.”

The garden is beautiful, paved areas and tables and seating allow alfresco eating. A gorgeous beach only a few minutes walk away and some fantastic walks around the coastline. The only things you need to be aware of are that the cottage might not suit you if you are tall or have mobility needs, low beams and the stairs to the bedroom were steep, more like a ladder, though very well lit and with warning signs. It wasn't a problem for us and added to the charm but might be a consideration for ...

The property

Cyndal Bach is a quaint and quirky 500 year old holiday cottage that is cosy and comfortable, while retaining the character of yesteryear.

There is a sunny, secluded, private garden with wonderful walks straight from the door. The small simple kitchen offers an oven, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave and toaster. The sitting/dining room has an original beamed ceiling as well as an inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove.

Set around the woodburner is a sofa and chair with a TV and DVD and CD players and a selection of books.

In the corner is a dining table with three chairs. The ground floor shower room has a large shower cubicle, loo, wash hand basin and heated towel rail. The bedrooms are upstairs via an original, steep cottage staircase.

The main bedroom has a double bed that can be separated into twin beds by prior request.

You access this bedroom via the single room that has a 2'6" single bed and space for a cot.

The beds will be made made up as advertised, if you would like a different bed configuration please contact Menai Holidays 7 days before your arrival. To the rear of the holiday cottage is a gorgeous private garden area where you can sit outside in the sunshine with your morning cuppa, or glass of wine come the evening.

There is also parking available. Situated on the west coast of Anglesey, near the seaside village of Rhoscolyn on Holy Island, you are only a stone's throw away from a lovely beach.

The gastropub, The White Eagle, is within walking distance, across the beach, and there are many attractions further afield by car.

Cyndal Bach is in an Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty with a multitude of wildlife, flora and fauna.

About the location

RHOSCOLYN

Valley 2 miles; Trearddur Bay 3 miles; Holyhead 5 miles.

Located on Holy Island, three miles from Trearddur Bay, Rhoscolyn is a small village with a church and primary school and is the most southerly place on Holy Island. Rhoscolyn also offers an excellent pub on the lane down to the beach, which is renowned for its gastro food, and the beach itself with its slipway, ideal for small dinghies and power boats, is a popular family destination throughout the summer owing to the sheltered cove and gently sloping sands. Also excellent cliff-top walks can be enjoyed and an abundance of wildlife can be seen, often including seals on the headland. Just two miles away is the village of Valley, which has a Post Office, chemist, shops and eating places, plus the nearby resort of Trearddur Bay is situated on the western shore of the island and is truly beautiful with a great sweep of low grassy coastline indented with rocky coves and fine Blue Flag sandy beaches. There are shops, pubs and restaurants in Trearddur Bay itself and nearby Holyhead offers a wider range of amenities, including a very good leisure centre, supermarkets, harbour front, a marina, the world’s second longest breakwater and exciting day trips to Dublin on the ferry. Watersports, bathing, sailing, windsurfing and horse riding are the main activities in the summer months, plus golfers will enjoy the excellent Holyhead 18 hole links golf course, and the area is also a great place for nature lovers with renowned birdwatching at the South Stack Lighthouse RSPB Reserve. An excellent location with plenty to see and do!

Note: Guests should note the original staircase leading to the bedrooms are very steep and not suitable for the infirm.
Note: Please be aware there is an additional single bed in a room which must be passed through to get to the main bedroom, this bed is suitable for an additional guest and is available if requested at time of booking.
