“My feedback is well documented through a complaint we submitted on return (but also via Instagram with Menai Holidays before we checked out).”

It's about the accuracy of the listing primarily, and the lack of sleep we had due to poor mattress and pillows. The cottage itself is contemporary and well presented, the towels were fluffy and large, it was clean on arrival - some minor maintenance issues, but nothing major. EV charging point was a God-send having just bought an electric vehicle. However, the main reason for booking was the claim that it was near a beach. That is absolutely not a beach that can be used in the same way as, for example, Newborough or Red Wharf Bay. More mud and rocks with two small patches of sand - one far too small to use near the car park and one inaccessible with a 9 year old. It was suggested we could walk 10 minutes up the lane - on a busy road with no pavements at either side - with a child, beach equipment and lunch!

Hi Linda. Both Menai and I have responded formally to your complaint which was only submitted directly before check out. As I have said, I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy the location but as stated there is access to a small sandy beach (obviously dependent upon the tide) directly across the road via steps. I’m sorry you didn’t find these steps but had you brought this to my attention earlier during your stay then I would have directed you to the steps. Other reviewers of properties next to us have commented that the beach is beautiful so I suppose it’s down to personal preference but as both I and Menai have stated the listing has been reviewed and is accurate. The bed is an orthopaedic mattress so again I think it’s down to personal preference and maybe personally the mattress was too hard for you. Pillows are soft so again down to personal preference. As for the roads, many of the roads throughout Anglesey don’t have pavements. Anglesey is a walking heaven but there is nothing we can do about the lack of pavements. I suppose Anglesey is just not a place for you. I’m so sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay Property Owner

About the location

BEAUMARIS

Menai Bridge 4 miles.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.
