“Nice cottage overall and loved having the balcony.”
Location was good for excursions and access to Chester - bus route literally 100m away. Facilities fine and some nice touches on arrival. However, disappointed it wasn’t clean. We are not overly meticulous about this as we both live in the country so know what this can be like, but loads of spiders and cobwebs which were obvious and when we started to hoover these, we noticed loads of dust on surfaces, dirty floors etc which made us question if any sort of clean up had been done once the previous guests had left. You could run your fingers across surfaces and they would come up with layers of dust, plus when we started to move furniture to Hoover the edges of the rooms, there was loads of dust on the floor and in corners, underneath, along edges of skirting boards and in rushes of wooden bathroom floor. Also a really bad smell of drains early on - owner said there was an issue with downstairs plumbing - which got better but did not fully disappear. I wasn’t even sure about the bedding which didn’t smell great. It just wasn’t good enough and slightly soured the trip. Also, bins damaged, recycling facilities haphazard and unreadable. Needs a deep clean and more attention to detail and then will be a very nice place to stay.
