Could not fault the property in any way at all, it was amazing, spotless, everything you need to make your stay comfortable, top quality appliances and the hosts were just wonderful, nothing was too much trouble for them
- Lisa, October 2024Lisa “A beautiful old cottage with perfect views.”
Couple of small things, the stairs to the garden are stone and very steep, and there is no handrail. Both my parents struggled using these steps, so may be worth mentioning in description. Also bottom stair in house completely blends in to the floor and is easy to miss it and trip, maybe some white across the step would help. Lots if wasps in the bedroom, looked like their was a best just outside window, may be worth noting if you are allergic. The duvets are all feather and my son was sneezing and uncomfortable , went and purchased some antihistamines which helped a bit, so bear this is mind also. The location is fantastic though as are the facilities .
- Lisa, September 2024Kathrine “The cottage was absolutely beautiful.”
It was spotlessly clean and just perfect for a family stay. The secure and private grassed outdoor space was perfect for our toddler to burn off some steam and it was just gorgeous to be so close to shell island (you can see it from the garden!) and so many other beauty spots. We cannot wait to return to this gem!
- Kathrine, August 2024Jane “This is a beautifully restored and maintained very old cottage.”
Comfortable and in a beautiful location. Very well equipped. Extremely comfortable bed! The patio and lawn area is a lovely bonus with a great sea view. Beware steep steps though up to the patio. The owners are welcoming and friendly.
- Jane, June 2024Katy “Had a fabulous week at Hen Argoed, we loved the cottage, spacious but cosy, lovely decor.”
The enclosed garden was perfect for our dog. A great beach in walking distance. Conveniently located for driving to local towns and villages. Despite being a working farm with a small campsite it was so quiet and peaceful. The owners were friendly and helpful
- Katy, April 2024Justyna “One of the nicest places we stayed in.”
Great location, excellent facilities, cosy, clean and very comfortable. Kindness from the owners was heart warning. The open fire was an excellent feature on the cold evenings, though mainly for the atmosphere as the cottage was very warm. Weather was not very kind to us this time so we could not enjoy the little sitting area in the garden, which was a shame as it is perfect for having morning coffee and meals while enjoying the views. The cottage is in a very good location if you like visiting castles, stately houses, beaches and gardens. The nearby Animal Farm is also a great fun mainly for smaller kids but mines, slightly older, still enjoyed feeding and holding lambs and little goats. There is also a possibility to visit slate caverns on the same site. Harlech Castle is definitely worth visiting and it is in a walkable distance from the cottage, if you can identify a path which does not include walking on the roads. If you like ice cream please visit Hufenfa'r Castell - ice cream shop located just next to the castle - a very delicious treat. The only advice regarding the cottage is to mind your head as there are few places when you can find yourself in pain if not careful. It was also nice to have white bedding and towels, which is always reassuring.
- Justyna, March 2024Varsha “The cottage was very clean and maintained to a high standard.”

- Tim, July 2023Brian “This is a spotless, comfortable cottage on a lovely farm.”
The hosts were friendly and very helpful. They had put a lot of thought into everything that we would need to make a memorable holiday. Would certainly return as it was excellent value for money.
- Brian, June 2023Tony “We very much enjoyed our stay at Hen Argoed.”
From our first viewing to our sad leaving, it was impressive. The location was great with good views, local history and the other building added to the historical atmospheres of the location. There is much to see with short drives from the cottage and we enjoyed these. The cottage itself is very well equipped. We had five adults from Australia, Canada and the UK shearing. and we felt we had lots of space. Sarah the owner and her husband were great to deal with. We would highly recommend staying in Her Argoed or any of the other cottages on the property.
- Tony, June 2023Beverley “Beautiful cottage, had everything we needed and more!”
Those extra little touches were appreciated. Beautiful decor and furnishings, quality bedding, home from home, could not fault a thing. The owners are lovely and friendly, we would definitely recommend their cottage to family and friends. Ideal location, plenty of places to visit nearby. Excellent beaches, gorgeous part of Wales.
- Beverley, June 2023Julia “We loved your cottage, in such a beautiful location.”

- Chris, April 2023Georgina “We had an absolute amazing time at Hen Argoed Cottage April 23.”
The hosts could not do enough to make our stay relaxing & comfortable and all essentials were provided. The cottage was absolutely spotless, clean, comfortable and stunning. Lovely seating area outside with amazing views. The surrounding area is beautiful with lots to do right on the doorstep. We did not want to leave. Truly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning.
- Georgina, April 2023David “Such a lovely cottage, lots of space and everything we needed.”
The owners were so friendly and helpful. The cottage was very comfortable and it was great that all the cottages were together as we rented all three for family to celebrate my 60th Birthday. Great for the dogs and very secure, they loved it. Would definitely recommend this cottage, we all had a fantastic time.
- David, October 2022Colin “The cottage was a not so little jewel in a north wales crown.”
It was surprising how big the cottage is. Tastefully decorated, double, single and family bedrooms that were outstanding. Clean, bedding was gorgeous and lovely plain white fresh towels. Tiled floors downstairs makes it easy to clean and all you needed in kitchen and utility for the stay. The small garden is great for dog however entrance to side steps could do with gate. But this is known to owner and am sure will be addressed. A chair from patio covered as barrier while there. View of the bay and sunsets were lovely as well as the surrounding area for walking beach’s and nature. Definitely recommend Argoed
- Colin, September 2022Imogen “A beautiful home, with great access to the beach.”
We enjoyed our stay massively, and would recommend this property to anyone looking to spend time in the beautiful country of Wales.
- Imogen, August 2022Tracy “We have just spent a fabulous week at this beautiful cottage.”
The setting is gorgeous with fab views from the garden. The cottage itself is lovely, spotlessly clean and so well equipped it has everything you need. Situated between Barmouth and Harlech in a lovely spot easy to get to everywhere. We have stayed at another property on this site and love it here. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We'll worth a visit we will definitely return.
- Tracy, July 2022Gail “A beautiful historic cottage, very well kept.”
It is in a scenic position with a lovely outdoor seating area - though access is via steep steps. The beams are amazing - but don’t knock your head as I did! Owner is friendly and welcoming. This is a spacious , well- equipped home with great character. Easy access to the coast road and nearby towns.
- Gail, September 2021Susan “We had a wonderful time during our holiday.”
It was an absolute joy to stay in Hen Argoed. The old house is beautiful and full of character, it is spacious but very cosy. Being on the farm was lovely- and our hosts were so friendly, but never intrusive. We would highly recommend Hen Argoed and we also hope to return in the future.
- Susan, August 2021Mary-ann “The cottage is spacious and comfortable.”
We love the beautiful location and proximity to Harlech beach. We can't wait to visit again!
- Mary-ann, August 2021Jenny “A lovely cottage with a homely and comfortable feel.”

- Jenny, June 2021David “Had hot water problem but fixed quickly.”
- David, June 2021Julie “We had a lovely week at this fabulous cottage.”
The pictures don’t do it justice, it’s far nicer., The owners were lovely and we would definitely be booking again.
- Julie, May 2021Andrew “Even though the property was listed as pet friendly, dogs where not allowed upstairs, this caused us issues with our dog not wanting to be seperated from us at night in an unfamiliar settting.”
If we had realised this I would not have booked it. I would think other pet owners would feel the same.
- Andrew, May 2021Julie “We had a wonderful week staying in the cottage, very clean, the kitchen was well equipped, the beds were so comfortable, the lounge very cosy, a great secure garden for our dog, amazing sunsets from the patio, overall a beautiful cottage, would highly recommend.”
The area is outstandingly beautiful, we visited a different beach every day, but our favourite was Harlech, just down the road, Barmouth also not far away 5 miles, great fish and chips, we were so lucky with the weather, we had a very special time, staying in your wonderful cottage, many thanks.
- Julie, October 2020Alison “Beautiful, comfortable cottage in a lovely location.”
Perfect base for our holiday.
- Alison, August 2020Jon “We had a happy and relaxing week at Hen Argoed.”
Our hosts were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The house was as comfortable and as beautifully presented as we had hoped and as an unexpected bonus the owners had recently redecorated and improved it, including new kitchen floor, new doors and steps leading directly from the living room to the garden, with a newly laid patio and upgraded garden furniture. The garden is private and peaceful, tucked away from the rest of the farm and properties/campsite (besides the cows grazing quietly in the next-door field) and with fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. Even though a number of places were closed due to coronavirus, there was plenty to do within a short driving distance, including sandy beaches and dunes, mountain biking, walking, pony trekking and ZipWorld. A great property in a beautiful area. Thank you
- Jon, August 2020Claire “We had a fabulous week staying at Hen Argoed cottage.”
All precautions had been taken in light of the Covid pandemic and we felt safe and secure at the cottage. The cottage had all the amenities required for a family with children. We enjoyed exploring the countryside and the quiet beach only a 10 minute walk away, tourist sites further afield and even a rainy day watching films was lovely in front of the fire! The owners are very friendly and available for advice/assistance when required. Local amenities are also very good. The kids want to come back next year and we have already recommended to friends who have booked to stay in October.
- Claire, July 2020Susan “We had a brief but lovely stay at this cottage.”
The owners were lovely the cottage had everything you needed and we will be returning soon
- Susan, March 2020Elizabeth “We have returned home from a lovely holiday in Hen Argoed Cottage.”
The cottage was comfortable and well equipped for cooking etc, we did not need to use the wood fire as it was warm enough. A short history of the C15 farmhouse and farm buildings would have been very welcome; (Sarah did tell me that there was a tannery and mill there). We found shopping difficult and only discovered the SPAR shop with an excellent butcher south of Llanbedr the day before we left! The cottage was in a very good position for local walks and excursions farther afield, a lovely part of the world! Beth Davis
- Elizabeth, September 2019Roger “Superb owners Very hospitable”
- Roger, September 2019Laura “A fabulous cottage very pleasant and homely super hosts great raised garden with sea views fully fitted kitchen (frying pans could do with replacing!”
) a d abulous weekend stay!!
- Laura, August 2019Clare “Great cottage very cosy and great location.”
Fabulous views. The owners were brilliant and very friendly. Beds so comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. Only niggle was issues with the boiler and having intermittent hot water for a few days but this was resolved swiftly.
- Clare, August 2019Sharon “We all had a very enjoyable stay.”
We are already looking forward to making a return visit in the future.
- Sharon, August 2019Alan “The house was absolutely wonderful, really spacious inside which was a lovely surprise and the photos do not do the house any justice.”
The view is limited in the garden if you sit down but standing up the views over the sea and towards the mountains are stunning.the owners are lovely and very helpful.the wifi is excellent and the daily visits from the owners 2 cats and Jess the sheepdog was lovely.i would highly recommend the house to anyone who wants the perfect Welsh holiday.
- Alan, July 2019Boyd “We had a lovely weekend ant the cottage and our only gripe was having to leave the beautiful cottage and farm behind us on Monday morning.”
- Boyd, July 2019Peter “The information provided could have been better.”
Lovely cottage however sitting in the garden was impossible due to the smell from the diesel tanks which is a pity as the views are lovely. Otherwise a nice place.
- Peter, June 2019Beccy “Advertised as having sea views- not quite correct.”
Although beautiful cottage and very comfortable. Lovely surrounding area.
- Beccy, May 2019Diana “It was a real privilege to stay for Easter week in this historic 15th century farmhouse, situated on a family farm on a hillside just above Llandanwg.”
It is spacious and extremely attractive, with amazing beams in the roomy bedrooms, a well equipped modern kitchen / dining room, and a large sitting room with huge fireplace and log burning stove. Absolutely gorgeous!! It is good to be aware that you might get the odd bumped head when not concentrating and that the track up from the main road is slightly rough. But it is what it is....a working farm! Also, just to be slightly picky, we thought the outside area was a little neglected. Dead plants in tubs ( managed to give the window boxes an Easter resurrection!) and the garden grass could have done with being mowed. But we loved it and highly recommend.....
- Diana, April 2019Florin “The best cottage for me and my family , big thank you”
- Florin, December 2018Patricia “The deceptively spacious nature of the cottage exceeded expectations.”
The cottage features lovely original beams and a fine inglenook fireplace -bags of character.15th.century but sympathetically restored with modern conveniences. The owners Eurigg & Sara are very welcoming and clearly run the accomodation very well. The location is well placed for visiting the nearby coastal resorts and enjoying the beautiful rugged countryside, typical of this region. Would definitely stay here again.

- Linda, July 2018Laura “This holiday has been the best that we have had for a long time .”
The cottage was amazing and had everything that we needed . The owner Sarah was a lovely woman who made us feel so at home and was always around if we needed any advice. The garden was ideal for my kids they loved seeing cows and sheep every day and having a climbing frame with slide and then the view from the garden it is so beautiful . If we do have another holiday we would definitely come back . Thank you Sarah and family for the great holiday and what an amazing house . Xxxx
