“Unfortunately, this holiday cottage fell below our expectations and caused a number of issues during our stay.”

The hot water supply was insufficient for five guests. After two short showers, the water quickly became lukewarm and then cold, which meant showering had to be staggered and limited. This occurred each day and was not suitable for a property of this size. The heating system was fixed at 21°C with no ability to adjust or turn it off, making the property uncomfortably warm, particularly by mid‑morning. We also had concerns about cleanliness. Scatter cushions, throws, and rugs in the living room appeared dirty, as did cushions and throws in all bedrooms, to the point that we removed them during our stay. These items would benefit from thorough cleaning between guests. There was frequent noise disturbance from dogs at a neighbouring property, including one instance of continuous barking throughout the night. While outside anyone’s control, this is something future guests should be aware of. Drying facilities were limited for a party of five. Only one indoor clothes airer was provided, radiators could not be used, the towel rail was not functioning, and the outdoor line remained shaded throughout the day. Bedding felt dated and worn, and the pillows were very firm. The shower curtain was marked and unhygienic, and the shower area would benefit from a more suitable privacy solution, such as a blind, instead of a curtain.

'We are sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. While we always welcome constructive feedback, we would like to provide some context from our perspective. In over six years of hosting, we have not previously received complaints regarding the hot water system. Following your stay, our electrician confirmed that the system is appropriate for a three‑bedroom property. We appreciate, however, that individual usage patterns can vary. The heating was set to 21°C but can be adjusted by guests if required. As this was not raised as an issue during your stay, we were unaware that it was affecting your comfort at the time. Regarding cleanliness, the property is cleaned thoroughly by our professional cleaner, and we personally checked the house prior to your arrival to ensure everything was in good condition. We are therefore disappointed to hear that this did not reflect your experience. We believe the property provides adequate drying facilities, including a rotary washing line in the garden. Given the favourable weather during your visit, we felt this should have been sufficient for guests’ needs. Following departure, we noticed some damage to the exterior of the property that had not previously been present. Our home has consistently maintained a strong review history and benefits from many returning guests. While we regret that the property was not the right fit for your stay, we thank you for visiting and wish you well with your future holidays'' Property Owner
