    “We had a lovely week in Long Cottage, which is in a beautiful and relatively quieter part of Anglesey, close to Penmon Abbey and St Seiriol's well, and then to Penmon Head with fantastic sunsets and a friendly little cafe, well worth paying the £3.”

    50 toll to get there. The cottage is very well equipped, in a very peaceful rural setting, yet close to Beaumaris and other island attractions. (In brackets is not for publication, just for internal feedback to Sykes Cottages and repeats the message I left in the feedback and comments book in the cottage. There seems to be something wrong with the motion sensitive light above the front door. Several nights it kept flashing all night. That became a bit disturbing for us, and we also thought it ...

There seems to be something wrong with the motion sensitive light above the front door. Several nights it kept flashing all night. That became a bit disturbing for us, and we also thought it was positively harmful to local wildlife e.g. moths and birds. I couldn't find a way to adjust it or over-ride it, which would have been very helpful. A bit like the over-ride switch for the bathroom shower ventilator above the bathroom door- which worked very well. Please could you take a serious look at this. Thanks. Two other more minor comments, the dog gate came off its hinges very easily and you can see where the bottom 'prong' had already been digging into the wall before we arrived. Maybe that could be adjusted? And the creaky floorboards at the top of the stairs are still terribly creaky, especially in the middle of the night! We could see that had been commented on in many reviews already. It may be very difficult to do anything about, but the rest of the cottage has been modernised so well that this is the one thing that REALLY lets the tone down! So for future visitors' comfort it would be very good if you could have a serious look at it, and see if you could adapt it somehow, or replace it. Otherwise we had a great time and hope to be back again one day.)

Long House And Long Cottage

These two converted cowsheds sit within a rural position within the village of Penmon, on the eastern tip of the Isle of Anglesey. Enjoying off-road parking, mountain and sea views and a just a few miles from the amenities of Beaumaris, Long Cottage and Long House provide an idyllic stay for families and friends looking to spend some time exploring Anglesey. The properties are adjoined with a connecting firedoor, featuring exposed beams, spacious living areas and a traditional finish. To the outside are enclosed gardens with part lawn and part stone, featuring bench seating and picnic tables. Just a short drive away is the town of Beaumaris, home to a magnificent castle and a busy pier, where you can board one of the many boat trips on offer towards Puffin Island. The town is also home to a selection of pubs, restaurants and takeaways, ideal for when you fancy a night away the kitchen. BEAUMARIS

Menai Bridge 4 miles.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.
