    “We had a lovely weekend at The Long Cottage which was spacious and comfortable, and very quiet!”

    From other reviews, we knew that the floorboards would be noisy but they weren’t a problem to us. It was great to be provided with cleaning products aplenty, toilet rolls, tea towels etc (bring your own kitchen roll), but we did feel it would have been beneficial to have a small supply of tea, coffee, milk, sugar, salt available on arrival, especially with no shops nearby. I’d have really appreciated an extra towel (hair towel!) - there was one towel per person plus a couple of hand ...

I’d have really appreciated an extra towel (hair towel!) - there was one towel per person plus a couple of hand towels in the bathroom. We loved Beaumaris (parking between £5 behind the castle for four hours and £8 for the day on the field), visited the castle and shops and cafes, and some of our group went on the Rib Ride in Menai, which was excellent. We didn’t get onto the beach and needed a bit more local information but had family staying nearby so we kept busy! The Long Cottage is a good choice for a family with older children and we’d stay again if we were in the area. Thank you!

Long House And Long Cottage

These two converted cowsheds sit within a rural position within the village of Penmon, on the eastern tip of the Isle of Anglesey. Enjoying off-road parking, mountain and sea views and a just a few miles from the amenities of Beaumaris, Long Cottage and Long House provide an idyllic stay for families and friends looking to spend some time exploring Anglesey. The properties are adjoined with a connecting firedoor, featuring exposed beams, spacious living areas and a traditional finish. To the outside are enclosed gardens with part lawn and part stone, featuring bench seating and picnic tables. Menai Bridge 4 miles.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.
