“We had a wonderful 4 day break at 3 Railway Cottages.”

We were well informed prior to arrival on the location of the Cottage and parking. The Cottage is well equipped, comfortable and warm. We felt at home there - modern kitchen, bathroom and facilities, underfloor heating throughout, and the entrance area is perfect for coats & walking gear, so you can off load before entering. The location in Betws-y-Coed is perfect. We were lucky to have been there for the first snowfall and the drive into the mountains that morning was magical - there's so much to see and do in the area. I would definitely look to see if 3 Railway Cottages was available if we stayed in Betws-y-Coed in the future.

“The cottage was excellent in every respect.”

Clean and comfortable, particularly the bed, and the shower and bathroom a delight. We enjoyed sitting out on the terrace so much, so quiet and peaceful, and we loved seeing the trains pass by throughout the day. The only thing: I was disappointed that the TV in the bedroom didn’t work. It’s listed as a feature. Could it be repaired/replaced or even removed? We had a wonderful week and would book again.

Stairwell and utility room could do with a paint job. Leather coating coming off rear of sofa. And good luck getting the tv in the bedroom to work. The best thing about it was the location. Beautiful village and bus and train nearby.

Close to all the amenities and beautiful scenery of Betws y Coed. It had all you need for a comfortable stay. It does, however only have a double bed in the main bedroom. This was my own fault as when it said 'very spacious bedroom ' I assumed, wrongly that it would be a king-size bed. When I checked the listing it doesn't actually specify (which should be rectified) The cottage could do with a few homely touches (artwork on the walls etc) to elevate it and feel nicer. Also could do with a newer television in the bedroom. Overall a good property.

However it was rather gloomy and the scruffy utility area created a very poor first impression. Bathroom shower and small shower head were filthy (the latter looked as if it had never been cleaned). The bedroom window catch was about to fall off, and the second bedroom window needed the double-glazed unit replaced. Tv remote didn’t work until we replaced the batteries, and the fridge light was missing. External patio neglected and breeze-block step potential hazard. Whole property in need of some substantial cleaning, maintenance and refreshment.

Extremely clean and well presented. We had a great nights sleep every night, and there was a travel cot and high chair available for our daughter. The underfloor heating is also a lovely added extra. All in all, faultless.

The garden needed weeding. Cleaning inside not good, the windows very dirty. Bathroom and kitchen not too bad but it would have been helpful to have some cleaning liquid. Plenty of space but not up to the usual standard that we have had from Sykes.

Everything was clean and cosy and we loved our stay. Location was central to shops, restaurants, pubs etc and private parking was perfect. The only thing I would recommend is to get some coat hooks for the utility room as we had no where to hang our coats. Everything else was amazing and we will definitely be staying again.

The kitchen is well equipped and the utility room is a brilliant feature. We sat outside and had breakfast on the patio on the first morning. The visiting birds are wonderful and the robin needs no encouragement (-: Bed is comfy, bathroom clean and has a lovely shower. This is a really nice cottage in a picture box location. Five stars. Would definately recommend to others. Only two minor issues; firstly the temperature in the second bedroom - it was constantly very warm - uncomfortably so at night. Secondly the check in/out time (5pm and 9am respectively) - whilst i understand time is needed to conduct a clean between guests that feels excessive - you are effectively loosing a day of your holiday and that's a real shame because it's such a beautiful part of the world that you really do want to make the most of it.

“Great cottage in a great location.”

My children appreciated the box of Duplo and played with it all week. High standard finish and very spacious. Handy untility area by the front door to keep wet and muddy clothing away from the main cottage. We were ready to book again for the same week next year but unfortunately the price has gone up by 40%, which seems a bit steep.

Right in the centre of the small town, lovely big green with cafes and restaurants around. Convenient facilities for buying groceries etc. Tourist information really close; well worth a visit on your first day as they have loads of good recommendations. Well equipped kitchen. I would recommend that you stop the requirement of asking guests to strip the bedding due to Covid as this is no longer relevant and quite frustrating really when you are trying to pack everything up on departure day. You have cleaners coming in, pay them to do this job, given that we are already paying a lot of money to be there. Would have given 5 stars otherwise. Not sure what the situation was with car parking, we had also booked number 5 so benefitted from using their clearly allocated car parking spaces. Other than this, we found the stay to be really lovely.

Well appointed and very cosy, lovely comfortable bed and a huge bathroom. Easy access to the cottage and a short walk from the parking area. Great location to stay at home or short distance to Llandudno and Rhyl on good roads. We will definately be visiting again in the future. PS only one gripe 5pm to go in late, 9am to leave far to early. 4pm and 10am would be much better !

Loved having the little shops and cafes so close. Our boys enjoyed watching the trains on the mainline as well as the occasional miniature train opposite. Great selection of toys, the wooden trains were a particularly favourite. We were lucky to have beautiful weather and found a garden parasol would've been useful. It took us a while to work out the switch for the towel rail was on the landing, so maybe a label on it. Overall we had a fantastic week and would definitely recommend.

Spotlessly clean inside. Lots of room, plenty of storage. Be aware that the train comes past early! 5:55am. Patio area outside needs a spruce up, had to cut down some brambles and patio furniture was dirty. Would have been nice to see the trains better from the patio.

“The cottage is generally comfortable although the lack of a mirror in the bedroom was a nuisance.”

The main concern was the pungent smell greeting us when we arrived. It was so nauseating that it affected my wife's breathing and had we not arrived so late in the day we may well have returned home immediately. It seemed to be a strong cooking smell left from from strong spicy food which was being partially masked by an air freshener and cleaning products. It took two days of open doors, windows and fans to reduce it to an acceptable level. The cooker still smelt and was not entirely clean. We had to return home early on the third day and contacted the owner as we left, describing the above. We did not receive any communication from him until I chased two weeks later and even then there was no explanation or apology.

“Lovely little cottage in an ideal location for visiting the village and local area.”

Only one complaint and that was about the lighting in the lounge/diner which was a bit dim and meant reading in the evening was a bit difficult. There was an additional lamp on the sideboard which we couldn't used as it was continually flashing but maybe if it was sorted that could help. Oh just one other thing the dining chairs were a bit hard so maybe seat cushions could help with that. Other than that everything was fine so thank you

Very close to railway line but not many trains to make it problematic. Although a non smoking cottage there was a strong smell of stale tobacco in the main bedroom, not noticeable anywhere else in the property.

“Everything in the cottage was great, and there are also enough wall sockets to charge every possible phone and camera batteries at the same time which is unusual and much appreciated.”

The location is perfect for travel by both bus and by train. There were little rabbits that came onto the patio to eat the leaves on the railings. I would have liked better lighting for working on the table as the lamp could not be moved and the ceiling bulbs are not adequate. ----------------------------------------------------- This is for Sykes. (Please make sure that they get in contact with number 1Railway Cottages to check) Please note that the passage outside is lit by a motion activated light outside this cottage, and the passage is smooth and safe here. Unfortunately walking along to leave there are no lights between there and almost reaching the turn at the corner. The light at the corner just about reaches the door of number three when coming from the other direction, but this light goes off just at the door of number three and then there is a very rough patch of ground with one of those metal areas with the patterned surface and a slope. As it suddenly turns to pitch black as one reaches this it is very easy to trip and land on one's nose, as I unfortunately did. My nose was very badly bruised and swollen and red, with later development of a little bruising under the eye area. I texted the owners of number one and they said that in 11 years no-one has tripped before. I told them that they must put in lights outside their building because the next person might get concussed or worse. They wrote back that they will put in lights. Please could you check that they have done so. The blood stains from my fall had been washed away by rain by the morning, so I could not take photographs of the bleed, but I bled so much (mostly over the kitchen sink whilst pressing the bridge of my nose) that I called 111 for advice. Luckily there should be no permanent damage, the graze on the nose is healing and it is less red, and it is almost painless now to blow my nose. I would be happy to send you photos of the passageway outside number 1 that is not lit, and also photos of my poor nose as it was on Wednesday and then on Friday. Now it looks almost back to normal.

“The pictures of the cottage are slightly misleading.”

The cleanliness was not great with crumbs and old food down the side of the fridge, plus large cobwebs in the lounge area. I contacted the owner on the day of arrival to inform him that his boiler was leaking and a break down was imminent. He replied saying he would get it sorted asap. And what time was good for me to allow the engr in? I asked for some logs from his store that id be willing to buy as the house was cold. I was told no and that id have to go and buy some at the shop.On the Thursday contacted him again to inform that the boiler had no pessure ,he eventually arranged the engr to come out but i had to wait in while my friends went to the pub. The engrs fixed the bolier but we're not able to fix the radiator in the bathroom. They also explained that they had not been contacted earlier in the week. In brief six days with no heating except the log fire

“Very difficult to open the key safe on arrival at the cottage, and then opening and locking the entrance door took a while, as the actual lock was worn.”

The oven did not work at all and when using the top of the cooker, the buttons which had to be pressed to operate the rings were difficult to manage, and there were no instructions in the cooker manual on how to use the top. People with arthritis in their fingers and wrists would not be able to use those buttons. We did speak to the owner about the key safe, door lock and oven not working when we were leaving the cottage on July 5th. The lighting could have been better as the cottage is dark. The square bowls provided for cereals etc are too big to stack properly in the dishwasher, and consequently when they came out of the machine we had to wash them again ourselves. The quality of fittings and furniture was very good, and the bed very comfortable.

The cottage was a delight, quirky from first impressions. Located in a group of back to back railway cottages, but beautifully furnished and appointed in a contemporary style. The property

A superbly-located mid-terrace cottage, situated on a quiet path in the heart of the popular Victorian holiday resort of Betws-y-Coed, in the Snowdonia National Park.

This lovely cottage has been lovingly refurbished to a high standard to offer spacious modern and stylish accommodation, with patio doors leading out to overlook the Conwy Valley railway line and across to the miniature railway.

The cottage offers two spacious bedrooms and a stylish fully tiled bathroom with walk-in shower and separate bath.

On the ground floor are a well-equipped kitchen, a welcoming sitting room with woodburning stove set in a stone inglenook fireplace, a dining area overlooking the patio and a large utility room with ample mountain bike storage.

The cottage has been finished to a high standard with underfloor heating throughout, along with many other indulgent touches such as granite worktops.

There is a private parking area nearby with a small meadow garden alongside it to complement the enclosed patio next to the house.

Betws-y-Coed is central to the magnificent Snowdonia mountain range and is a popular tourist location in its own right, with a vast array of wonderful shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.

This cottage is in a fantastic location for families or couples wishing to enjoy the delights of Snowdonia at any time of the year.

Betws-y-Coed, known as the Gateway to Snowdonia, is North Wales' most popular inland resort. Surrounded by dense woodland and magnificent mountain country, this is a haven for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. At Betws-y-Coed the River Conwy meets its three tributaries flowing from the west, and the beauty of the area is enhanced by cascading waterfalls, river pools and ancient bridges. Most famous of all are the magnificent Swallow Falls, situated where the Llugwy River hurls itself into a spectacular chasm. The village has shops, pubs, places to eat, miniature railway, a riverside golf course and the Tree Top Adventure High Ropes Course, and is home to The Snowdonia National Park Visitor Centre, as well as being the start of the beautiful Conwy Valley which leads to the coast and the lovely towns of Llandudno and Conwy.
