“Lovely well equipped cottage and very comfortable .”

Our only criticism was there was no pack in the cottage explaining the heating, WIFI , bin recycling etc, we did ring Sykes about this but they didn’t come back with any information! Other than that it was perfect for us .

The property

9 Penlan, is a wonderful two-bedroom, terraced cottage in Tanygrisiau which is located on the outskirts of Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Tanygrisiau is overlooked by the wonderful Moelwyn Mountains and the area has been made UNESCO site due to its historic slate mining background.

9 Penlan is a fantastic property for couples or a family of four who want to explore North Wales, thanks to its convenient location along with a fantastic character-filled decor, which includes exposed stones and timber, vaulted ceilings, and industrial details that evoke the area's mining background.

Step into the open-plan living area, where you can prepare delicious meals in the well-equipped kitchen using the electric oven and hob and fridge/freezer, as your guests set the table and pop open a bottle of fizz.

Gather around the dining table to savour a tasty meal as you discuss plans for the days ahead.

Indulge in some downtime after dinner on the plush three-seater sofa, which features a woodburning stove and a Smart TV for you to watch your favourite shows.

Upstairs rests two well-appointed bedrooms, one of which has a zip/link super-king-size bed, and one of which has a king-size bed, both ideal for enjoying a refreshing night's sleep.

Awake from a leisurely slumber and prepare for the day in style with a refreshing rinse under the rainfall shower, before wrapping yourself in a warm towel from the heated towel rail and getting ready to head out.

Treat your family to a warm cup of coffee and a home-cooked breakfast at the Lakeside Café, which overlooks the Tanygrisiau Reservoir and is a favourite destination for locals and visitors alike.

After that, why not take a stroll up to the Cwmorthin Waterfall to enjoy a peaceful moment amongst nature?

Cwmorthin Slate Mine and Cwmorthin Lake are both within a few miles of each other, where you may cast your line and reel in your catch of the day or enjoy a leisurely stroll along the lake's shore.

Blaenau Festionig is very much an adventure activity town offering a wide range of activities at local attractions; Downhill Mountain biking, Underground Mine Tours, Zip Wires and Underground Trampolines.

Continuing our journey, we'll visit Porthmadog, where we'll board the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway and take in the stunning views of the surrounding area which runs past behind 9 Penlan, often tooting it's horn as they pass.

Visit the Maritime Museum, or eat some fresh fish and chips as we watch the world go by from a vantage point on the water.

9 Penlan is the ideal location for a memorable North Wales getaway.
