“Lovely cottage and a perfect base to explorer North Wales and the information about the surrounding area was great.”

The welcome gift was well appreciated , especially after a very long journey. Few issues - the kitchen area was greasy and we had to wash up alot of the utensils and pans before using them . There were also clumps of hair and a contact lens found on the main bedroom floor. We contacted the owner, where we were told that she expected her guests to leave everything clean and does not check any of the kitchen utensils. We also found we could not open any of the windows for ventilation, this was stated in the information folder left by the owner. No ventilation made the main bedroom upstairs feel damp and our clothes felt damp to put on. This is surely a fire hazzard as there is only one door in and out of the property downstairs. The lights were a bit strange as you could only switch on the hallway landing light on upstairs . The shower in the bathroom takes ages to heat up , but the hot water from the taps is instant . The main gate to the parking area has rusted at the bottom and made opening and closing the gate difficult , but on the plus side there is a nice little seating area in the small courtyard area. With a bit of tlc this would be a lovely little cottage as it is a perfect location for exploring.

Although on a main road there was minimal traffic noise (something I worried about having read previous reviews). The cottage was comfortable and contained absolutely everything we needed (including tea-towels, iron, ironing board and clothes pegs!).

“Cute little cottage ideal for myself and my daughter.”

Well equipped, clean and comfortable, felt very welcoming when we walked in. Loved the candles and fairy lights round the fire And enjoyed the fizz left in the fridge for us. We hope to come again next year.

There were some lovely little gifts left for us which we very much appreciated thank you It’s a really convenient location for lots of activities with easy access to Anglesey and Snowdonia national park. There is no phone signal in the cottage but It does have WiFi. As so many activities require online booking now this proved invaluable. It was really handy to have the small Morrisons over the road and the pub does decent food. We had a very enjoyable holiday thank you.

“It is a lovely well furnished and equipped cottage inside an enclosed small garden and courtyard, which catches the sun and with gated off road parking.”

The bypass is complete, there is some traffic noise but it is not intrusive. We could see that prior to the bypass it would have been quite noisy but as we say it is fine now. As luck would have it the Newborough Arms pub, 50 yds up the road, re-opened, after 2 years, a couple of days before we arrived. We were one of the first to sample their Sunday lunch which was very good and later in the week (at moment only food Thurs, Fri, & Saturday with Sunday lunch) we had another meal which was also very good. The landlord said they were fully booked for the following Sunday .We had a warm welcome. In the village there is a small Morrisons less than 2 min walk up the road and there is a fish and chip shop which we did not try. There is a large Tesco about 5 min drive towards Caernarvon. The location is good with Snowdonia, the coast and Angelsey easily accessible. We had a good week in May touring and exploring Snowdonia and the Coast which is all stunning. We recommend this cottage.

Every item that you would need was catered for, even 3 different coffee perculaters. We really enjoyed staying there. Loved the small village,with a pub,shop and fish and chip shop.every was as it was advertised. Will definitely book again,attention to detail,second to none.hot water was definitely hot.! Which is unusual.

No problems with road noise as per older reviews as the new bypass is now open diverting traffic away from the town. Off road parking and gate to road was nice to have with small kids. Property had everything that we needed. Thank you :-)

Otherwise lovely cottage, well equipped with comfortable bedrooms. Hostess had gone the extra mile to create welcoming atmosphere with a bunch of carnations, milk for tea in the fridge with a bottle of bubbly to enjoy later. Exceeded our expectations! Lovely cottage, lovely neighbours, lovely country.

“The cottage was clean, cozy and well-equipped.”

It was a good location for everything we wanted to do, including kayaking at Llanberis, ponytrekking and surfing on Anglesey. Caernarvon is a short car or bus ride away, but the village store stocks most essentials. The road outside the cottage was very busy, which required some coordination getting in and out, opening and shutting the gate to the property, but a new bypass will be opening in early 2022 and so I imagine that challenge will diminish. All in all, the cottage served our needs well.

“Superb holiday in North Wales.”

The cottage was ideal for our needs - all the amenities we need in a great location. If you want super luxury or are looking for somewhere quiet or a quaint village location, then Ty Capel is not for you. It's situated on a really busy road, with constant road noise and only one shop within walking distance. However if you are looking for a base from which to explore North Wales then its absolutely perfect. 40 minutes from the affluence of Abersoch in one direction and 40 minutes to the fantastic beaches of Anglesey in the other direction. With excellent walking and lake activity in Snowdon, and activity centre at Glasfryn, along with a non-traffic cycle route pretty much outside the cottage. Top holiday :)

“The description of the cottage said there was a pub in the village.”

This was an important factor in my decision to rent the property. There is no pub!!!! Also the village itself is unattractive and has a very busy road running through just a few yards from the property. The shower one-off switch is unreliable and clearly needs attention. As a whole Ty Capel is comfortable, attractive and well equipped.

Delightful cottage (will be even better when the local by-pass is completed taking a lot of traffic away from the cottage, easier access, less noise) everything we expected and more, would certainly consider using again as it is ideally situated.

“We really enjoyed our stay at Ty Capel, the cottage was very clean and tidy upon our arrival and were greeted with lovely goodies on the table, beyond our expectations.”

Television reception was very poor, contacted the owner on the number provided, she immediately attended to it and arranged with us for a technician to visit, which he did and the following day we left him to do the necessary, after which the reception was perfect. On a main road but this did not bother us whilst in the cottage, expect for sirens, every now and again, but not easy to go in and out due to the traffic. Beds were very comfortable, plenty hot water for showers. All in all we had a most lovely week out and about and the cottage was perfect for us.

The comfort - whilst the cottage is lovely and cosy on the whole the seating in the living room (mainly the 2 chairs) limited the opportunity to really relax after being out all day however we appreciate that space impacts on this.

“Could have done with a maiden.”

There's a washer if you needed it which was awesome (first property we've been to with one) but being in the UK there was nowhere to dry indoors if you wanted to use it. Apart from that was awesome, owner was quick to answer any queries when we were in the property. Chippy is good, shame the pub has closed down due to covid 19 so that needs adjusting in the listing.

“I have just returned from a lovely weeks holiday.”

The cottage was perfect for us (2 friends). It had everything we needed and the location was perfect for exploring Wales from the beach to the mountains. Very convenient with shop and food outlets directly opposite and pub with restaurant 2 doors away. We didn't try the food in the restaurant so can't comment on that. We did however find a cafe in Caernarfon Cafi Cei witch did a great breakfast with views of the castle. Galeri was a great spot for afternoon coffee over looking the harbour, and I soul recommend a boat trip on the Menai straights. We were lucky with the weather so didn't have to use the log burner but I could imagine very cosy nights in, in the cooler months. Overall accommodation and location top marks all round. Thank you

Bontnewydd is a village sitting just outside of Caernarfon in North Wales, it sits at the confluence of the Rivers Beuno and Gwyrfair.
