If you can tear yourself away from this wonderful retreat, why not head into Porthmadog, a bustling harbour town, where an array of pubs, eateries and shops await you.

Visit the town's Maritime Museum, a great way to spend an afternoon, or take a ride on one of the steam railway lines.

The Ffestiniog Railway or Welsh Highland Railway will transport you through the breath-taking Welsh scenery.

The Italianate style village of Portmeirion, built by Clough Williams-Ellis, is just over four miles away, and is home to some amazing architecture and sub-tropical gardens.

Snowdonia National Park is also within close distance and is great for walkers and cyclists with its many trails up Snowdon.

For those looking to explore some of the area’s historic sites, why not visit Caernarfon or Harlech Castle.

The bustling harbour town of Porthmadog lies on the Glaslyn Estuary and enjoys a stunning setting. The gateway to the Snowdonia National Park, Porthmadog is full of individual shops and restaurants, and home to the Ffestiniog Railway, where you can travel by steam through spectacular Snowdonia scenery, to Blaenau Ffestiniog. The pretty village of Borth Y Gest, with its cliffs and coves, is a short walk or drive from the town. The well known and unique Italianate village of Portmeirion is just down the coast.
