The property

Ty Mawr, 200 years old, stands in a glorious, ancient landscape with bronze age hut circles, a Neolithic Burial Chamber and views to the beach at Black Rock Sands.

In medieval times, jousting tournaments were held just above the house. "This delightful house sits comfortably in the peaceful landscape looking towards the beach at Black Rock Sands, between Criccieth and Porthmadog." After three generations of farming the tenancy reverted back to the owner, who with her architect husband have transformed Ty Mawr to the glorious house it is today.

It is such a splendid house that has been put together with such care and attention to detail. The farm continues to flourish with sheep cattle and alpaca (protecting the sheep from Mr Fox) grazing the gentle slopes from Moel y Guest down to the sea.

Black Rock Sands is just down the road.

Just a short drive away are the beautiful sea side towns of Criccieth and Porthmadog.

From here you can easily explore the Italian village of Portmeirion, the Welsh Highland Railway, as well as castles, beaches and a number of great restaurants and cafes.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £150.

The bustling harbour town of Porthmadog lies on the Glaslyn Estuary and enjoys a stunning setting. The gateway to the Snowdonia National Park, Porthmadog is full of individual shops and restaurants, and home to the Ffestiniog Railway and the Welsh Highland railway where you can travel by steam through spectacular Snowdonia scenery, to Blaenau Ffestiniog or Caerforn . The pretty village of Borth Y Gest, with its cliffs and coves, is a short walk or drive from the town. The well known and unique Italianate village of Portmeirion is just down the coast. Situated on a rugged clifftop on its own private peninsula, Portmeirion, famous as the location of the TV show The Prisoner and the final episode of Cold Feet, is surrounded by miles of sandy beaches and woodlands.
