It was easy to book with just a small deposit and matched the pictures and description given. The Ffestiniog Railway is within walking distance and many other superb places are just a short drive away. If you want a day at the beach, there are plenty to choose from including Barmouth which is absolutely beautiful, yet somewhat surreal with it's historic train bridge spanning across the sea, and beyond that mountains such as Cader Idris in the background. There are also many Waterfalls to visit within easy reach. The largest and most spectacular waterfall in Wales is about 30 miles away - Pistyll Rhaeadr. This is well worth the drive and there are two paths to reach the top, both on the right hand side of the falls. One is quite steep and rugged whilst the other is a little longer but a more gentle gradient. The whole landscape is made from hills and mountains with hundreds of walks listed on various websites such as the National Trust with very clear instructions. 'The Fairy Glen' is stunning on a sunny day. The pictures online look like an edited photoshop image, but if you visit, you will discover that no camera can capture how amazingly beautiful this place really is. The 'Ugly House' is also a lovely and interesting stop for a coffee if you happen to be in the area. The Snowdon Railway takes you to the summit of Mount Snowdon - although it may seem expensive it's well worth the money. We also visited the Sygun Copper Mines. The attraction itself is very good and inexpensive for families with a good coffee shop and gift shop. There is a lakeside walk here which is an easy short walk along a river with no steep climbing! But you can climb some easy steps once at the lake and view it from above within 5 minutes. Just outside Blaenau Ffestiniog is Llechwedd Slate Caverns and Zip World, both great attractions. I could just keep writing and writing for hours and hours listing things to do from here. The cottage is so relaxing and peaceful to return to at the end of the day and well equipped - a home from home.
