“The property had pretty much all we needed and was well layed out.”

The heating did make a few odd sounds at random times.

The property

At the foot of Snowdon is the village of Llanberis, resting on the southern shores of Llyn Padarn, it is home to this semi-detached cottage, 9 Yankee Street.

Offering a perfect spot for a family or group of four to enjoy a break in this gorgeous area of Wales, there are many attractions in the vicinity as well as plenty of amenities in the village.

Stepping into this cute white house, come into the charming sitting room where two sofas await you at the end of an active day of walking, you can warm up on a brisk day in front of the woodburning stove which sits within a beautifully rustic stone fireplace.

Over in the kitchen/diner, you can enjoy making some tasty treats within this well-presented space, benefiting from a blue colour theme, teal kitchen units hold all the appliances you need, while the traditional pine table against nst the warm grey walls offers a pretty contrast.

As a balmy summer evening draws in, pour a glass of wine and sit at the raised decking, where outdoor fairy-lights create a tranquil atmosphere to relax in with your loved ones.

When sleep is calling, head upstairs to find a super-king-size bedroom, offering plenty of space and a large wardrobe for all of your things, as well as a twin bedroom which is home to two singles, both bedrooms enjoying thoughtful and pretty décor.

Over in the delightful bathroom you can choose whether to opt for speed with a shower, or indulge in a soak in the large P-shaped bath.

Enjoy all of the amenities within Llanberis, from pubs and restaurants to quaint shops, you can find some charming souvenirs to take home with you, get to know this naturally beautiful area by taking a trip on the Llanberis Lake Railways, it takes you along the northerly shore of Llyn Padarn for some delightful scenery.

The National Slate Museum provides an amazing insight into the area’s history while Dolbadarn Castle is a great spot to visit as it’s home to incredible 13th century ruins of a tower fort.

Of course you must visit the main attraction, the incredible Snowdon, whether you are embarking on a trek up it, or enjoying a ride on Britain’s only rack and pinion railway to the fantastic visitor centre at the summit, Hafod Eryri.

9 Yankee Street is a wonderful base for a North Wales adventure, with the amazing Snowdon as a backdrop to it all.

About the location

Caernarfon 7 miles; Bangor 10 miles; Betws-y-Coed 17 miles.

Dominated by the grandeur of the Snowdon Massif, Llanberis is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. In fact, Llanberis is something of a mecca for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in England and Wales. The ascent can be made either by train via the Snowdon Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Each year, major racing events attract thousands to the area: The fast Snowdon Race to the summit, held in July every year, a triathlon known as the world's toughest, and The Snowdonia Marathon, held in October - a gruelling 26-mile course that starts and finishes in Llanberis, circumnavigating the Snowdon Massif. The area is also popular for mountain biking, open water swimming and stand up paddle boarding. Within Llanberis itself there are excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. Just 7 miles from Llanberis on the coast is Caernarfon with its magnificent castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn, Plas Newydd and Bodnant Gardens.
