The TV aerial connection was broken so wasn't able to watch it, this wasn't an issue for us as wasn't planning to watch, there seems to be very little slack on the cable so any slight movement of the TV and the aerial comes out, other than that the property was good

The property

Pen y Groes is a cosy, welcoming vacation rental with a wood-burning fire that is nicely decorated with a blend of antique and modern pieces and accentuated with stylish fabrics.

It's the ideal place to unwind after a busy day of adventure. With its own lively, community-run tavern and village store, this delightful character cottage in the centre of Llithfaen hamlet is the ideal starting point for discovering the many joys of the Llyn Peninsula and for those wanting a typical Welsh retreat. The moment you go through the front door and into the open-concept living/kitchen space with its under-floor heating, you can relax and unwind. The seating at the front of the house makes for the ideal position to watch the sunset with a glass of wine when it's warmer.

Return after an action-packed day to wrap up on the sofa to watch some TV in front of the wood fire, a welcome feature on a chilly evening. The well-equipped kitchen is located right next to the living area, where you can prepare a delicious home-cooked lunch before relaxing with your loved ones to talk about the day's events and make plans for a stroll or beach day the following day. Alternatively, stroll a little distance to the neighbourhood pub next door that is managed by the locals and has a playground that is great for kids. Climb the carpeted stairs to the first floor at the end of the day to access the two charming bedrooms, a double and a twin.

The spacious shower room, complete with a WC and sink, serves these two rooms. The gorgeous and enchanted Nant Gwrtheyrn, the National Welsh Language and Heritage Centre, is not far from Llithfaen, one of the highest villages on the Llyn Peninsula.

It is situated at the base of Yr Eifl. Why not take a stroll around this remote Victorian-era village and stop at Cafe Meinir for a cup of coffee while taking in the breathtaking vistas and rich history of this unique location.

Additionally, you may access the breathtaking seaside route or hike up to Tre'r Ceiri, a historic hillfort that dates back to the Early Bronze Age.

Explore some of the stunning coves and beaches that dot the Llyn Peninsula.

The well-known Ty Coch Inn, ranked among the top 10 beach bars in the world, is located at Porthdinllaen beach, which is only a short drive away.

The Italianate village of Portmeirion, the adrenaline-pumping Velocity Zip Line, or a day of family fun at Greenwood Family Park are just a few of the wonderful tourist attractions in this region of Wales, which has a unique culture and fabled legacy.

Will a week be sufficient?

About the location

LLITHFAEN

Nefyn 4 miles; Abersoch 12 miles.

The small village of Llithfaen is one of the highest villages on the Llyn Peninsula, enjoying some of the best views around due to its location on the slopes of the Yr Eifl mountain range. The village boasts its own community-run village shop and local pub, which was established in 1988 and offers a friendly welcome. Llithfaen is very proud of its Welsh heritage with the Welsh Language and Heritage Centre and restaurant located just up the road at Nant Gwrtheyrn, which also has a pebble beach. The pretty coastal town of Nefyn lies 4 miles away, sitting atop sweeping cliffs, and is home to a fine, two-mile stretch of sandy beach, popular with families, along with a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. The village is also within reach of the amenities of the popular towns of Pwllheli, Abersoch and Caernarfon. In nearby Porth Dinllaen is the Ty Coch pub, voted 3rd best 'beach bar' in the world in an online feature in June 2013. The coastline around this region is dotted with castles and coves, while fishing, sailing and water sports are all available. The Snowdonia National Park is 25 miles away, with its dramatic scenery and abundance of superb walks. With its proximity to such a wide range of destinations, this area makes a superb base for a break in North Wales.
