“Cooker was leaning down almost 2 inches at the front so pans full of boiling water could literally just slide off, similarly fridge is loose but obviously that's not dangerous, shower head holder was cracked so shower head fell down & cracked me in the shin, ground floor doors (to stairs) don't have latches so won't shut or even stay pushed to, no baby gate or anything between open plan lounge/ diner & tiny kitchen, baby seat was missing it's straps & floor is hard tiles.”

Top floor double bed was HORENDOUSLY uncomfortable & ridiculously creaky. So basically as parents of toddlers will realise we didn't get to relax for a second. Someone had to have eyes on him at all times & regularly go grab him before he wondered into danger. Lounge wasn't the best for relaxing but that one comment's more of a personal prefference really. Also we had to do alot of hoovering when we arrived, literally dozens of spiders & webs in all rooms. (Wife contacted sykes regards straps & ...

(Wife contacted sykes regards straps & received bo response). The neighbours were absolutely lovely, the area is just gorgeous, the cottage has a ton of character. I particularly loved opening the velux on the top floor & just listening to the incredible birdsong just before nightfall. The view out of the back of the property is stunning! And there were owls. It was so beautiful I just wish the owners would up the standards of everything else so that it meets basic expectations. Left it all clean & tidy despite having to clean it quite alot once already upon arrival.

Hi, We are really sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your stay at Wenallt Cottage. This is very unusual for us to get a bad review, as can be seen from all the wonderful reviews we've had up till now, including those from our returning guests, and the many visitors that we've had that have young children. Ahead of your visit, knowing that you had a small child, we did email you to see if you had any additonal requirements that we could accomodate but we didn't recieve any response. It's unfortunate that you didn't contact us during your stay as we would have made every effort to make your holiday more comfortable for you and accommodate your requirements. Our personal contact details are at the front of the welcome pack that can be found in the property, and we know that these are easy to find as we often get questions from guests about local facilities, etc. We have also since checked with Sykes regarding your contact with them and why this wasn't passed to you, and they do not have any record of you calling. In response to your specific points of feedback... The cooker – the cooker has been checked since your visit. A spirit level measures it as perfectly level. We will keep an eye on it, but can’t understand how you’ve had the problem that you’ve had during your stay. The fridge- We are not sure what we could do differently with the fridge, or what is meant by saying it is loose. It's a large heavy item that sits firmly on the floor within a fitted kitchen. The fridge is perfectly usable and safe. There is no risk of it going anywhere unless you're an adult deliberately trying to move it or pushing down hard on the open door. The shower head bracket - thank you for letting us know that this has a crack, and really sorry to hear that the shower head has fallen and hit you on the shin. Having checked the appliance, we can't see how the shower head has fallen as a result of a crack in the bracket but do accept that this has happened during your stay. We have ordered a replacement part and this will be installed as soon as it arrives. Sometimes if a guest has accidentally broken something like the shower head bracket, and doesn't let us know, it's impossible for us to know that it needs repairing or replacing. Thanks again for letting us know, this hasn't been mentioned by any other guests previously. Door latches on ground floor - it is correct that the doors don't have latches on the ground floor, it is a period property, and the doors remain as they were when we bought the cottage. Our previous 100+ guests at the cottage haven't had an issue with the doors and so we haven't seen a need to alter them to add a latch. The comment about the doors not shutting or stay pushed to simply isn't accurate or true. Baby gate for kitchen - downstairs is open plan as can be seen in photographs when booking. We do not list the property as having baby gates, we are sorry that you expected some. Tiny kitchen – the photos of the kitchen that can be seen when booking are give an accurate representation of its size. Baby seat straps - thank you for letting us know that the straps have gone missing, replacements have been ordered. The floor is hard tiles – The tiled floor can be seen in the photos when booking, 50% of the open plan ground floor has original Welsh quarry floor tiles. This is considered a desirable feature by many guests. Top floor double bed - bed comfort is tricky as it is subjective; everybody likes something different and sadly there is no single bed configuration that suits everybody. We're sorry that the bed choice at the property hasn't worked out for you. We have had great feedback about the beds in the past and guests have said how comfortable they are, this can be seen in some of the other reviews. We do use the property ourselves from time to time and have never had any issues with the beds creaking. We will investigate however and if we can reproduce any creakiness we will resolve it. Cleaning - it's very unusual that you felt as a guest that you had to do any cleaning when you arrived. The property had just had an additional deep clean before you arrived, and our standard clean alone attracts positive scores and comments in reviews. I will say though that the property is in a remote countryside location (as you said yourself, wonderful birdsong, owls,) with lots of wildlife, and as such, even after a thorough clean, the odd spider can occasionally move back in quite quickly. We really hope you find somewhere more suitable for your needs for your next holiday. All the best Ben and Kim at Wenallt Cottage Property Owner
