“We had a very enjoyable week staying in this beautiful cottage!”

It was everything we hoped for and more, the location is remote enough that you feel closer to nature but not so remote you are completely cut off. We only used our car twice during the week as there are a lot of lovely and long walks on the doorstep. We spoke to the owner on the second day as he was passing by, and I was delighted to learn that he had done most of the artwork in the cottage. Just a small heads up for people with small ramshackled cars like ours, the drive up to the cottage is ...

Just a small heads up for people with small ramshackled cars like ours, the drive up to the cottage is rather bumpy and pot holey so take it slow. Also we struggled to find the wifi code, it is within the wifi box and bin bags are under the sink. But I cannot stress how much we enjoyed our very comfortable stay here! We would most certainly love to visit again!

The property

Hen Beudy is a welcoming, eco-friendly, and cosy Welsh cottage located on the beautiful Llyn Peninsula and located just a short walk away from the nearest beach, Black Rock Sands. Once a cattle barn, Hen Beudy has been sensitively converted by its owners to a luxury, self-catered and romantic one bedroom cottage.

Surrounded by hills, stone walls, grazing sheep and peaceful countryside Hen Beudy makes an idyllic setting and the perfect escape from strident city living. Situated between the towns of Porthmadog and Criccieth there is a great choice of restaurants and pubs nearby, as well as walks, attractions and activities. Walk through the front door into a lovely open-plan living space with painted beams, stone flag flooring and underfloor heating.

The perfect place to relax after a long day of adventure.

You can cook delicious meals in the kitchen, which features integrated equipment and marble-style countertops, before making your way over to the dining table. Head up to the first floor where you'll discover a pleasant double room with a spacious bathroom. There is a graveled patio at the back of the house where you can have a cup of steaming coffee before wandering out to explore what the area has to offer.

Be sure to pack your walking boots and embark on a two-foot adventure to the summit of Moel y Gest, a rocky hill set moments away, reward its climbers with far-reaching views across the Llyn Peninsula and toward the peaks of Eryri (Snowdonia); a truly idyllic spot to take in the rural Welsh countryside.

The glorious sands of Criccieth Beach can be found a short distance away from your holiday home, ideal for lazy afternoons paddling the shores or soaking up the sunshine with a good book in hand, whilst the avid adventurer may wish to explore the craggy caves of Black Rock Sands.

Whilst you're in the area, be sure to tour the remains of Castell Criccieth from its elevated position overlooking Tremadog Bay or indulge in a bite to eat at one of the towns many eateries, with a host of traditional pubs, hearty cafes and delicious takeaways to choose from.

The picture-perfect village of Portmeirion is a must-see, renowned for its spectacular Italianate architecture, whilst the historic town of Porthmadog is home to the Welsh Highland Railway, offering scenic journeys through the spectacular landscapes of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.

For a truly unique experience, delve deep underground with a visit to ZipWorld Llechwedd, where you can jump through the disused mine at Bounce Below or tackle the Titan 2 zip wire!

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.
