“House was stunning, everything we needed was there, stunning artwork.”

Rubbish weather but that's not you fault. Only issue was noise from dementia home, had bedroom window open at night and the noise we heard one night had me in tears I understand why you dont say it's there but I think it should be mentioned however we would love to come back

“We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely house.”

Just two minutes walk from the beach and such a beautiful area. We had everything we needed. The only drawback was the home for people with dementia which is very close to the holiday property. We realise that these very poorly people need care but it was upsetting at times. This wouldn't put us off staying again though. Could the owners of the house please invest in a new clothes airer as my sister found that some of her clothes had rust on them after using it. Thank you for a lovely holiday in your house.

“We couldn’t fault the cleanliness of the property however the freezer leaked each day: there appeared to be an issue with the bottom drawer.”

There was only one wooden board near the bread bin which seemed odd and not particularly hygienic for chopping raw meat etc and meant we couldn’t prepare meals quickly as we had to wait to sanitise the one board. The cooker hood does not extract to the outside of the property and as a result of this, and powerful smoke alarms, cooking steak one evening resulted in two of us standing on chairs to try and reset smoke alarms. we had the same issue with cooking a bacon butty one morning. Even though the windows and door were open we battled with the alarms, and nothing was burning- just cooking. A blind or net curtain in the front window would be a welcome addition as passers by are always looking in and it was like sitting in a goldfish bowl unless we drew the curtains and sat with a light on. As a previous guest has stated the property backs on to a dementia home and guests need to be aware that there is often very loud shouts and screams throughout the night so despite the warm weather it became necessary to sleep with the windows closed. Unfortunately we will not be returning to this property.

“A beautiful characterful holiday home clean and welcoming.”

Spacious with lovely, thoughtful touches, great for an extended family group holiday with a short walk to the beach, castle and local cafes. A big downside for us was the noise from the dementia home directly behind the property. There are obviously some very ill people there who were heard screaming, shouting and chanting every day of our stay. This was upsetting and as the weather was warm windows were open which probably made it more disturbing. We would not stay in this property again because of this. According to neighbours this is an ongoing problem with many people complaining repeatedly to the council. According to Sykes they don't take responsibility for this noise and the issue not being flagged in the description. It was not mentioned in the few reviews available to read. I can't believe that we are the only family who have experienced this! I would like to flag this up for anyone considering booking this property.

Very clean and comfortably arranged, four very nice bedrooms with good light and views. Nice touches like wood for the stove, games and jigsaws, good quality towels. Appreciated the excellent heating, particularly on arrival after a long drive from Edinburgh. Thanks we'll probably come again!

“The property was in an excellent location close to beach and ameanities.”

Requires a solution to the curtains in the living room which the rail falls down very easily putting a warning sign up does not remedy issue. Signs of damp in back kitchen on the wall. However had a brilliant time and would book accomadation again. Gary

The top stairs are steep and require care irrespective of age a vertical pole on the adjacent banister is broken and has been over painted The overall condition is good but this and the fact of a pat failed plug on the iron is surprising. Would visit again

“Superb location.”

Used back yard for every meal, although not the nicest place to sit, a bit scruffy and poorly lit. Property is for 7, but only 6 chairs outside. Needs a downstairs toilet desperately. Overpriced, won't be returning.

“Loved this house so much.”

felt full of good vibes and had everything we needed for a lovely family holiday with 3 kids and our dogs. We loved how close it was to beach and the shops and eateries so hardly used the car except to go to bounce below with the kids. The only issue we had was our youngest puppy dog hadn’t been away before so I am afraid he did bark a lot whenever people walked past front door or window ( as it is right on the street) and set the other dogs off. Our oldest dog Chester is 15 and arthritic but he had the best time beach walking and paddling in the sea and so glad we could take him on holiday again. Lots of room to have space and also comfy sofas and big tables for socialising. Would definately go there again and I don’t often feel like that. Thankyou

Family of 2 generations 6 adults and a furry member. The house is described well however more stairs than we originally thought however we managed well. The house is situated on the perfect street for beach walks and parking was never an issue. Shout out to the kebab shop and pub for food both restaurants were well worth a visit. I can honestly say we had a lovely week away Thankyou

“A beautiful property in an idyllic setting.”

A seaview from at the front and a castle view from the rear bedrooms, the seafront is on your doorstep. Super clean and welcoming on arrival, Ty Ardwyn was a big hit with all our family, ages ranging 18 months to 78. A very nice large kitchen with ample equipment/utensils, a lovely lounge with wood burning stove for cosy nights in. All the stylish bedrooms with comfortable mattresses, everybody slept well, which is very unusual for us on holiday! We wouldn't hesitate to book again and will highly recommend to friends and family. Criccieth is a charming village, enough dog friendly eating establishments, we particularly enjoyed the prince of Wales, very good home cooked food. All in all an excellent week, even the weather behaved considering it was late November!

“We have done a few family cottage holidays now and this has proved to be the best accommodation we have booked, thank you.”

Certainly the rooms are generous proportions and crockery etc. all matches which made me very happy :) and is good quality, with a very generously stocked kitchen. Fridge is a very good size and cooker, hob etc. were great too. Bathrooms/toilets adequate in number for a large party of adults and also good quality. We felt like we were on holiday as soon as we got there. We really enjoyed the ample dining tables both inside and out, with the neighbour being friendly and even joining in with our quiz words over the fence!! My 78 year old mum and her partner were able to access the top suite as the stairs are steeper, but made easier by being carpeted. Criccieth was not difficult to park in even on a busy day so long as you are happy to drive around the block/along the front so all 3 cars we brought were able to park for free all week even though the sun was shining for most of it (during August) so I guess it was 'busy'. Best day out was definitely Portmeirion which comes highly recommended if you like a wander and architecture etc. We also had a body board at Hell's mouth (approx 30 mins drive and stunning/wild, viewed later from Plas in Rhiw) Surprisingly the kebab shop in Criccieth is worth a mention being well stocked with groceries/alcohol at the back and good takeaway food (book early for collection later) Close dog beach next to the castle, but the best one was the other side of Dylans - 5 mins walk along the promenade. Once the tide is lower there is a decent stretch of sand to run the dogs on a bit further round the bay if your pooch is shy of stones as our greyhounds are! The only reason I would not book again is that we like to discover somewhere new each year. Felt really emotional unpacking as we enjoyed it all so much !!!!!!

“Beautiful house!”

Beautiful location! This house has absolutely everything you could need for 7 people to have a great break away in North Wales. We will definitely stay here again. Right near the beach so great for children and dogs. You have Cafes, Cadwalladers ice cream parlour and Dylans all within walking distance. Perfect!

The town’s 13th-century castle perches majestically on a rocky outcrop, dominating the skyline and offering superb views of Tremadog Bay and the Snowdonia mountains. Watersports enthusiasts will be delighted by the two beaches, whilst walkers and bikers are spoilt for choice by the proximity of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park.
