“This was a spacious holiday property which was well equipped, clean and warm.”

I was delighted to find that the fridge/freezer was really large. There was no picture in the listing and sometimes a fridge/freezer is under a worktop and just a fridge with an ice compartment. It is nice to know that if we come back we can stock up with frozen food etc. Being close to the A55 meant that we had easy access to the many National Trust properties that we visited in the area. The property was, for ramblers, easy walking distance to to many long distance paths in the surrounding ...

The property was dirty dust everywhere on skirting boards units and staircase and mould around shower unit the mattress in bedroom 2 was badly stained and unusable and my 52 year old daughter had to sleep in a child's bed its a shame because it is a nice property just not up to your usual standard would not recommend

“This is a well laid out and spacious cottage located in a beautiful part of Wales and very close to the beach and shopS.”

However, we were very disappointed with the cleanliness of the cottage and in particular with the state of the beds and bedding. When we opened the bedroom doors we were hit with a really bad, stale smell which came from the bedding. We had to go to the local Spar and purchase laundry liquid and wash all the bedding that first night as there was no way we could have tolerated sleeping in the beds as we found them. We had a fairly uncomfortable first night without much in the way of bed clothes. Once washed the bedding was fine although one of the duvets was so badly stained it was confined to the spare room and the mattress in the second bedroom was really heavily stained. Toilet seat in bathroom was loose. Shower curtain in bathroom was dirty and threadbare. Oven trays were greasy. We found rice on the kitchen floor. We were glad we brought our own towels as the towels left for us also smelled quite bad. No spare black bin bags. Sofa’s were not particularly comfortable. We loved the area and the cottage and would have liked to re-booked in the future but we would be reluctant to unless the housekeeping improves. Cleanliness and attention to detail is a must for holiday rentals.

“Lovely cottage, not short of anything.”

Handy location for visiting North Wales. Off road parking, quiet location, enclosed garden which was good for our dog. Only thing that needs addressing is making it clear that bins need putting out on Sunday evening as collection is early, both rubbish bin and recycling bins were full with lots of flies around. Would definitely stay again.

“Lovely spacious let.”

Close to sea which was great for grandson. Lots of places to go to. Train station is just a few steps away and reasonably priced. Only had one issue with the toilet which was sorted very quickly.

“We had a fantastic week, the house really felt like a little home from home and had everything we needed.”

The garden was fine for our Labrador, the kitchen was well equipped and there were facilities available to wash and dry our clothes which meant we didn’t have to take sandy beach things home with us - perfect! Location was ideal for the activities we had planned and the beach is lovely & so easy to walk to, just a short walk towards the station & then through the tunnel. The only thing was the ceilings are very sloped upstairs so may be difficult for taller people to navigate but was mostly fine for us! We would happily stay again in the future.

“We had a lovely time, great position for beach and transport.”

BUT the dreadful smell of cigarette smoke on arrival was horrid, not a great welcome. 1 wash tablet, 2 dishwasher tabs and 1 teatowel was really not sufficent for 4 adults and a toddler. Also, a teapot, cafetiere and clothes airer wouldn't go amiss. It was difficult drying things when raining! Luckily the Coop is not far, so we could stock up easily

“We had a fabulous stay.”

The property was lovely, clean, spacious and comfortable. However, there were a few points that could be improved such as the outside area at the rear, as it was very unkempt. The property stated Dog friendly with an enclosed garden, but there were gaps between the sheds at the rear that led to the front. We had to 'plug' these with the fold up chairs. There was also a very large gap at the bottom of the garden gate that the Dogs could get under, and it was very poor fitting. The toilet in the en-suite made the most dreadful noise when used which at night was loud. We were a little disappointed also that it advertised a 4 minute walk to the Beach, which is why we booked this property, but the description failed to state that it wasn't Dog friendly and so we had to put the Dogs in the car and travel to find a Beach that was Dog friendly. Having said that, we did discover some amazing Beaches such as, Beaumaris and Red Warfe. These are overall small issues that could be easily rectified, but the all important question....would we stay here again? YES, great base.

Hi Shirlie, Thanks for your feedback. So happy you enjoyed your holiday in Penmaenmawr and would like to stay again. I am however unhappy that the garden wasn't has tidy as expected. We have taken on a new gardener since you stayed, which has greatly improved the appearance. Regarding the gaps behind the sheds and the very small gap under the side gate, this has now been rectified and I'm confident the rear garden is now very secure even for the smallest dog. The mechanism in the toilet in the en-suite has now been replaced and is much quieter. I'm sorry this disturbed you at night during your stay. Regarding the dog friendly beach, the central part of Penmaenmawr beach is indeed out of bounds to dogs during the summer months but both ends of the beach (from the sailing club onwards and from the skate-park onwards) are dog-friendly all year round. Dogs can also be walked on leads on the whole length of the promenade all year round. I'm happy these inconveniences didn't affect your holiday too much and that you'd like to stay again. “This is the 1st time in over 6 years that we have hired a cottage due to having a campervan.”

Having sold the campervan and having 2 teenagers hiring a cottage was the compromise and we all loved it. It was so close to the beach and in a small quaint welsh town we couldn’t have asked for more. Even just chilling at night in the cottage our lads stayed downstairs with us which is unheard of. So thank you for giving us a very chilled out holiday. We would definitely love to return.

About the location

Conwy 5 miles.

Nestled on the North Wales coast between Llanfairfechan and Conwy, Penmaenmawr is an old quarrying town now adapted into a delightful community stretching along this stunning coastline, yet retaining much of its Victorian architecture, with many local pubs, restaurants and shops, a superb golf course and golden, sandy beaches. Set on the side of the Tal-Y-Fan mountain, many parts of Penmaenmawr and its sister village Dwygyfylchi enjoy stunning views across Conwy Bay to Llandudno, Puffin Island, Anglesey and the Irish Sea, and if you are lucky, dolphins and seals can sometimes been see playing in the bay. A recently opened cycle path leads along the coastal path to Conwy Marina to the East, and Llanfairfechan to the west. Or, head up the Conwy valley through the Sychnant Pass on to the mountain trails that abound there. The sailing club in Penmaenmawr is well established and welcomes day guests, as does the 9 hole golf course, set amongst stunning coastal scenery on the lower slopes of the village.
