“A lovely, cosy and well equipped cottage within easy reach of many fantastic walks in the Meolwyn mountains.”

Some points to consider - the cottage sits directly below a working slate mine which gives off a constant hum. Not really a problem for us in October but might be intrusive in the summer months. There's no grass at the cottage, so if your dog will only pee on grass you will end up walking them down to the bottom of the terrace where there is a large grassy area. Something to consider if your dog isn't fond of going out in bad weather. What stopped me giving 5* is the dusting- light shades are ...

There's no grass at the cottage, so if your dog will only pee on grass you will end up walking them down to the bottom of the terrace where there is a large grassy area. Something to consider if your dog isn't fond of going out in bad weather. What stopped me giving 5* is the dusting- light shades are thick with dust and the bedroom corners are cobwebby and spidery. The lighting in the conservatory is poor (only one dull lamp was working), so we couldn't make use of the lovely space in the evening. All in all we had a lovely stay :-)

Thank you for the feedback Emma. I will report the dusting back to my cleaning company as i rely on them to do the cleaning and dusting. I will ensure the lighting in the conservatory is improved also. Re the grassy area, it states in the cottage info there is a patio area at the back of the cottage on two levels. The cottage is not below a working slate mine, the slate mine is at the back of the cottages, cannot be seen but when in use has a slight hum. I have never found this to be an issue. It is a mining village and holds much history. Mining no longer happens but the slate is recycled . Property Owner

The property

This delightful mid-terrace cottage is situated in an elevated situation on the outskirts of the historic slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, right in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park.

This cottage is deceptively spacious for a traditional slate miners cottage and provides a wonderful base for exploring the area with its rich cycle paths, walks, rivers and waterfalls and is perfect for a couple, friends or a family who love the outdoors.

Sympathetically refurbished and renovated to a good standard, this charming cottage is lovingly maintained and well-presented by the owner; attention to detail is obvious with lots of wonderful muted colours, co-ordinating soft furnishings and wonderful fabrics.

Miners cottages is very individual and stylish and has some lovely features, including a wonderful fireplace in the sitting room housing an attractive wood burning stoves which creates a wonderful ambience and a relaxing atmosphere on those cooler evenings.

The kitchen caters for all your needs and the conservatory is a lovely place to sit and relax, enjoy a good book or to enjoy a meal together but with a choice of pubs and eating establishments within a fifteen minute walk, all offering evening meals, I doubt you’ll want to cook!

The downstairs shower room is modern whilst upstairs there are two well-appointed bedrooms, all with a pleasant outlook over countryside and encompassing craggy scenery.

The cottage has a lovely enclosed rear patio which is a lovely place to sit out and enjoy the evening sun.

Just across from the cottage is Llechwedd slate cavers and ZipWorld Titan, Zip Caverns and Bounce Below, there is also a café and Antur Stiniog extreme downhill mountain bike tracks and trails and a 15 minute stroll and you are in the town centre, offering a variety of shops, tea rooms, pubs and eating establishments.

The famous Ffestiniog to Porthmadog Steam Railway starts its journey here too!

Whilst the coastal towns of Harlech and Criccieth, with their medieval Castles and wonderful sandy beaches and hidden coves, and the Italian village and gardens of Portmeirion are all reached in just 30 minutes.

With Snowdonia on the doorstep, and Anglesey and the Llyn Peninsula easily reached, this is a perfect cottage for all to enjoy, whatever the time of year.
