A fabulous holiday cottage located in a unique coastal location. Overlooking Penmon Priory in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with outstanding views over the Menai Strait and magnificent Snowdonia, you'll be hard-pushed to find better views than this!
This once ruined historic former Quarrymans Barracks has been lovingly restored. And it is so delightful to see that the renovation includes the rebuilding of the lovely bell tower using the original stone from the local quarry, which perhaps would have rung out to note the end of a shift or dinnertime. The high-quality limestone from the quarries at Penmon Point supplied the stone to build many local buildings, including the iconic Menai Suspension Bridge.
"The location, superb renovation and all the modern comforts of the 21st Century make an idyllic holiday retreat!"
A beautiful walk practically from the front door along the Anglesey Coastal Footpath takes you past the Priory up to Blackrock Point, famous for Penmon lighthouse and Puffin Island. There is also a lovely pebble beach and a small, friendly cafe serving drinks and snacks and, of course, ice cream! Plenty of rock pooling, sea life, bird watching and fishing opportunities too.
Nearby Beaumaris is just a short drive away, and has a wide selection of shops, bars, restaurants, galleries and interesting individual shops (no Costas or McDonalds here!) in addition to the splendid moated castle.
