Porthdinllaen Lifeboat StationNefyn, Llŷn Peninsula

Porthdinllaen Lifeboat Station sits in a stunning setting - its own private bay! A great stop whilst you’re touring the miniature headland of Nefyn, off the Llyn. Spectacular views across the bay and beyond make this station unique!

Found on the northern coast of the Llyn Peninsula, Porthdinllaen station is situated below the famous Nefyn Golf Course and has the most fantastic panoramic views. We think one of the best lifeboat station locations in North Wales or maybe even the world - but we’re biased! Get a family photo next to the boat - a perfect holiday snap and enjoy exploring the coast of the headland.

Description

Standing proudly in its own little bay Porthdinllaen Station is a bit of an anomaly when it comes to lifeboat houses. Usually original and very old - this one has had a bit of facelift and it looks great! A beautiful modern building which stands out against the rugged rocks!

Situated near Morfa Nefyn the Lleyn Peninsula, the station first opened back in 1864. This was after the tragic events of winter 1983 in which 18 ships from the bay were pushed ashore and wrecked! This gave the local people reason to call for a Lifeboat Station to be commissioned at the site.

This little lifeboat station is well worth a visit whilst you’re walking the headland or thinking about enjoying refreshments at the famous Ty Coch. We love how the very little are amazed when they see the lifeboats up close and it's fantastic to celebrate all the hard work of the volunteers. Well worth it to pop by!
