Bangor, Snowdonia, North Wales

Bangor is a university city on the edge of the Menai Strait. Home to a new purpose-built arts centre and a beautiful Victorian pier, it’s a wonderful mix of old and new and a great base for exploring the region.

Bangor originated from a monastery established by St Deiniol upon the site of the Cathedral, in the 6th Century. The Cathedral dates back to the 12th Century and is beautiful inside.  The last king of Wales and his two sons, Owain Gwynedd and Cadwaladr are buried there.
