Barmouth is a wonderful seaside town on the mouth of the Mawddach estuary from where it takes its name.
Formerly a busy fishing, trading and shipbuilding centre, exporting goods such as herrings, and then wool and slate allowing ports all the way up the Mawddach Estuary to thrive. Today it is a busy tourist destination. It has the iconic railway bridge taking the train across the estuary and the stunning Snowdonia mountain range as it’s backdrop.
Barmouth has attracted many a distinguished visitor to it before from the likes of Charles Darwin and William Wordsworth. Today it is still a vibrant cosmopolitan tourist centre with a wonderful atmosphere.
