Rhyd Ddu is a small village which sits within the Snowdonia National Park, close to the foot of Snowdon. This makes it an ideal starting point for several walking routes up Snowdon, including the Rhyd Ddu Path. The name of the village in Welsh means Black Ford. There is also a Welsh Highland Railway station stop in the village, providing excellent transport routes for those exploring Snowdonia by rail or road, or those who would like to conquer the nearby famous mountain peak.
It is close to Llyn Cwellyn, a great fishing lake and walking spot. After your exertions you can head to the Cwellyn Arms, a lovely gastro-pub where you can grab a pint of real ales and a decent meal.
